Kwak Sun Young Is A Timid Investigator Who Struggles To Speak Her Mind In KBS's New Science Comedy Drama
“Brain Cooperation” (literal translation) has dropped the first look at Kwak Sun Young’s new character!
KBS 2TV’s upcoming Monday-Tuesday drama “Brain Cooperation” is a brain science comedy investigation drama about neuroscientist Shin Ha Ru (CNBLUE’s Jung Yong Hwa), and pushover detective Geum Myung Se (Cha Tae Hyun), who desperately want to kill each other as they collaborate to solve a crime case involving a rare brain disease.
Kwak Sun Young will transform into Seol So Jung, a Forensic Hypnosis Investigator. Due to her timid brain, Seol So Jung is unable to speak her mind, even if she desperately has something to say. She is more sensitive to stress than others, which results in her getting cold sweats and red in the face even for the most trivial things. Even when her bosses scold her and give unfair orders, Seol So Jung is always complying and saying “I’m sorry!,” both when she’s not sorry and when she doesn’t have to be.
Her first stills capture this exact energy with Seol So Jung looking anxious and defeated. While sitting in an interrogation room, Seol So Jung looks at the person sitting opposite of her with wide, shocked eyes. After lowering her head, her expression turns solemn and she focuses on the investigation. Given her pale complexion and stiff posture, viewers are left wondering whether Seol So Jung conducted her interrogation properly and how her shy personality will bloom throughout the drama.
Regarding why she chose to star in “Brain Cooperation,” Kwak Sun Young explained, “The idea of using your brain to find culprits and solve cases was interesting. I was able to learn a lot of information about the brain so that aspect was fun. I was able to relate to the character of Seol So Jung, which is why I chose [the drama].”
Kwak Sun Young added, “Although So Jung is timid, she’s also smart, quick-witted, knows how to be considerate of others, and has a warm heart. In particular, she’s sensitive to recognizing others’ emotions and moods and moves ahead of time so that no problems arise.”
Production company Samhwa Networks commented, “When you check out the new, never-before-seen image of Kwak Sun Young in ‘Brain Cooperation,’ you will be shocked. We ask for lots of anticipation for and interest in Kwak Sun Young, who has boldly attempted a new acting transformation through her concentration to melt into the character of Seol So Jung.”
KBS2’s “Brain Cooperation” premieres on January 2, 2023 at 9:50 p.m. KST!
