Eru Apologizes For Drunk Driving + Steps Down From KBS Drama

Singer and actor Eru has halted all activities and apologized for driving under the influence of alcohol.

According to the police, on December 19 at 11:25 p.m. KST, Eru crashed his car into a guardrail on the Gangbyeon Expressway while under the influence of alcohol. A male passenger who was also in Eru’s car at the time of the accident is said to have sustained minor injuries.

Eru’s blood alcohol content was found to be at a level high enough for his driver’s license to be revoked (0.08 percent or higher).

The following day, the producers of KBS 2TV’s upcoming drama “Secret Woman” (literal translation) announced that Eru, who had previously been set to appear in the drama, was no longer a part of the cast.

“We are informing you that Eru, who was scheduled to appear [in the drama], has stepped down [from his role],” they said. “We will do our utmost to repay viewers with a great drama.”

Eru also took to Instagram to personally release an apology for the incident and announce that he would be halting all activities in order to reflect.

His full apology is as follows:

Hello, this is Eru.

First, I apologize for giving you all cause for concern because of my wrongdoing.

There is no room for excuses regarding the fact that I drove drunk, as reported on December 20. I sincerely apologize.

I would also like to apologize to the production team and the people at the broadcast network who are currently working on preparing the drama [“Secret Woman”].

I will halt all activities in the entertainment industry and take time to reflect on myself.

I am deeply regretting and repenting, and I will look back on myself so that this kind of incident never happens again.

Once again, I bow my head in deep apology.
