TXT Becomes 1st Foreign Act To Top Oricon's Weekly Album Chart With 7 Consecutive Albums
TXT has set a new record for foreign artists on Oricon’s weekly album chart!
On January 31, Oricon released their latest weekly album chart for the week of January 23 to 29, which has TXT’s latest mini album “The Name Chapter: TEMPTATION” at No. 1! Including the day of release (January 27), “The Name Chapter: TEMPTATION” has sold over 185,000 copies in Japan in just three days.
Last May, TXT became the first foreign artist in history to top Oricon’s weekly album chart with six consecutive albums. Now, TXT is the first-ever foreign act to reach No. 1 on Oricon’s weekly album chart with seven consecutive albums. This starts with their second mini album “The Dream Chapter: Eternity” in 2020 and includes “minisode 1: Blue Hour,” “Still Dreaming,” “The Chaos Chapter: FREEZE,” “Chaotic Wonderland,” “minisode 2: Thursday’s Child,” and now “The Name Chapter: TEMPTATION.”
The only other foreign artists to reach No. 1 on this chart with at least seven different albums (though non-consecutively) are TWICE, TVXQ, and BoA.
A few days prior, “The Name Chapter: TEMPTATION” debuted at No. 1 on Oricon’s daily album chart after selling 184,971 copies on just the first day of release in Japan. While this is an impressive feat in itself, it also means that the album took only one day to surpass TXT’s total Japanese sales in 2022 with their last release “minisode 2: Thursday’s Child.”
Not only is TXT taking over Korea and Japan with “The Name Chapter: TEMPTATION,” the album’s title track “Sugar Rush Ride” recently became the group’s highest-ranking song on Spotify’s Global Top Songs chart. In addition to “Sugar Rush Ride” debuting at No. 38, the album’s four B-sides made it into the top 120 of the chart.
Congratulations to TXT!
