Super Junior's Kim Heechul Donates To Help Victims Of School Violence
Super Junior’s Kim Heechul has shared a meaningful donation to school violence victims.
The Blue Tree Foundation (The Foundation for Preventing Youth Violence) recently revealed that Kim Heechul had made a donation of 100 million won (approximately $76,900) for the healing and recovery of young victims of school violence.
The Blue Tree Foundation is a youth non-governmental organization (NGO) that has been granted a special consultation status by the UN Economics and Social Council. Founded in 1995, they aim to provide healing for victims and raise awareness regarding the severity of school violence for prevention.
Through the foundation, Kim Heechul commented, “I wanted to be of help to youth who have been victims of school violence. School violence victims live with mental and physical scars for the rest of their lives. I decided to make a donation out of my hope that there will no more youth who endure pain from school violence.”
The Blue Tree Foundation’s chairman Kim Kyung Sung commented, “I sincerely thank singer Kim Heechul for participating in the support of spreading non-violence among youth. We will do everything we can for young victims of school violence to return to their daily lives.”
Earlier this month, Kim Heechul shared an apology following various comments he made on a live broadcast, including defending former teammate Kangin and swearing during discussions of school violence. As the controversy mainly arose from the profanity he used, Kim Heechul emphasized his stance on school violence and wrote, “…No matter how much I reflect [on my remarks], I don’t think it’s wrong to swear at school violence [perpetrators] and certain sites.”
