Lee Byung Hun's Agency Denies Allegations Of Tax Evasion + Provides Clarifications Regarding Audit

Lee Byung Hun’s agency has released an official statement regarding the tax evasion allegations made against the actor.

Previously, a media outlet reported that the National Tax Service conducted an irregular (special) tax audit on Lee Byung Hun and his agency BH Entertainment in September last year and that they were fined hundreds of millions of won (hundreds of thousands of dollars) in additional taxes. The media outlet further alleged that Lee Byung Hun purchased a 10-story building in the neighborhood of Yangpyeong in Seoul and that he sold the building in 2021, earning a profit of around 10 billion won (approximately $7.6 million).

On February 28, a representative of BH Entertainment shared, “Actor Lee Byung Hun has not had one shameful incident regarding taxes in the past 30 years.”

Regarding the allegations, the source from the agency elaborated, “The additional fee collected was due to the differences in the deposit time for an advertising guarantee and in the process of accounting normalization for bonuses paid to all employees with the actor’s own personal expenses that were processed as company expenses.”
