Watch: Idol Survival Show "Peak Time" Kicks Off Collab Battle With Exciting Performances + Announces Current Rankings
The contestants of JTBC’s “Peak Time” teamed up for some epic performances on the latest episode!
“Peak Time” is a new idol survival show in which teams compete for the chance to become the next “worldwide idol group.” Unlike other audition programs, its contestants consist entirely of male idols who have already debuted, whether currently active or part of a disbanded group, and they compete “anonymously” under temporary group names that correspond to different hours of the day.
In addition to MC Lee Seung Gi, the survival show boasts a star-studded panel of judges that includes Super Junior‘s Kyuhyun, Girls’ Generation‘s Tiffany, Jay Park, Highlight’s Lee Gikwang, and INFINITE’s Kim Sungkyu. Starting with this episode, MAMAMOO‘s Moonbyul took over for WINNER‘s Song Mino as a new judge.
Last week, the 16 teams formed alliances of 4 teams each for the show’s collaboration battle, in which the alliances split up into vocal, rap, and dance units. (Each vocal unit was limited to six members and each rap unit was limited to five members, with no member limit for the dance units.)
As revealed on last week’s episode, the four alliances are as follows:
A: Teams 2:00 (NTX), 5:00 (ATBO), 9:00 (BLITZERS), 18:00 (BDC)
B: Teams 8:00 (DKB), 20:00 (M.O.N.T), 21:00 (24K), 23:00 (DGNA)
C: Teams 11:00 (VANNER), 13:00 (BAE173), 15:00 (BLK), 24:00 (solo contestants)
D: Teams 1:00 (DIGNITY), 4:00 (BXB), 7:00 (MASC), 14:00 (GHOST9)
The March 8 episode began with footage of all the units rehearsing their performances for the battle, which will award a benefit of 2 percent of all votes to the winning alliance.
Host Lee Seung Gi also revealed that a special panel of 25 expert judges, separate from the program’s usual panel of judges, would be selecting one MVP for each division (vocal, rap, and dance). Each MVP’s team (their group, not their alliance) will receive an additional benefit of 5 percent of all votes.
The battle then began with the rap units, who had to choose from four given songs last week through a special race.
C rap unit – (G)I-DLE’s “My Bag”
A rap unit – Beenzino’s “If I Die Tomorrow”
D rap unit – WINNER’s Song Mino’s “Fiancé”
B rap unit – Supreme Team’s “Dang Dang Dang”

All the judges gave each performance a numerical grade, and after their scores were tallied, the final rankings for the battle were as follows:
1. Winner: B rap unit (790 points)
2. C rap unit (761 points)
3. A rap unit (713 points)
4. D rap unit (691 points)
Afterwards, the show aired the first of its four vocal performances, before teasing that the vocal battle would continue next week.
C vocal unit – BTOB’s “Way Back Home”
Finally, the program ended by revealing the current rankings for its ongoing global vote, which will end next week on March 16 at 12:30 a.m. KST.
