Watch: Han Suk Kyu, Ahn Hyo Seop, Lee Sung Kyung, And More Doldam Family Doctors Reunite For "Dr. Romantic 3" Script Reading

SBS’s hit drama “Dr. Romantic” is back for Season 3!

“Dr. Romantic” depicts the story of sincere doctors working in the countryside at Doldam Hospital. Season 1, which first aired in 2016, recorded a personal best viewership rating of 27.6 percent, while Season 2 in 2020 concluded on a personal best record of 27.1 percent.

The first season focused on the stories of Dr. Kim (Han Suk Kyu) and additionally starred Yoo Yeon Seok and Seo Hyun Jin, while Season 2 starred Ahn Hyo Seop and Lee Sung Kyung.

On March 16, “Dr. Romantic 3” shared a behind-the-scenes look at the script reading that took place earlier on March 10 with actors Han Suk Kyu, Ahn Hyo Seop, Lee Sung Kyung, Jin Kyung, Im Won Hee, Byun Woo Min, and Kim Joo Heon, Yoon Na Moo, Shin Dong Wook, So Ju Yeon, Go Sang Ho, Bora, Jung Ji Ahn, and more reprising their roles. New cast members Lee Shin Young and Lee Hong Nae also joined the energetic script reading. Although Kim Min Jae is confirmed to return, he was unable to attend the script reading due to a previously scheduled activity and instead relayed words of support.

Having reunited after three years, the cast expressed excitement about their return. Han Suk Kyu, who plays the titular role of the eccentric Dr. Kim, shared, “I want to enjoyably create Season 3 together with everyone again. Thank you for creating a stage for Season 3,” causing cheers of, “Dr. Kim!” to resound throughout the room.

Ahn Hyo Seop, who takes on the role of General Surgeon Seo Woo Jin, shared, “It’s an honor to work together again,” while Lee Sung Kyung, who plays cardiothoracic surgeon Cha Eun Jae who overcame her fear of performing surgery in the last season, shared, “It’s fortunate to be able to work on a project that many people loved once again.”

The cast making up the Doldam Hospital family impressed yet again with their stellar teamwork. Jin Kyung returns as chief nurse Oh Myung Shim, Im Won Hee plays chief of administration Jang Ki Tae, Byun Woo Min is anesthesiologist Nam Do Il, Yoon Na Moo plays Jung In Soo of the emergency room, So Ju Yeon plays nurse Yoon Ah Reum, Shin Dong Wook is orthopedics doctor Bae Moon Jung, Bora plays nurse Joo Young Mi, and Jung Ji Ahn takes on the role of nurse Uhm Hyun Jung.

Kim Joo Heon, who played director Park Min Gook in opposition to Dr. Kim, will also reprise his role while supporting Dr. Kim this time in Season 3. Go Sang Ho will play Park Min Gook’s loyal subordinate Yang Ho Joon.

The production team concluded by sharing, “Viewers will be able to see the deeper chemistry between director Yoo In Shik, writer Kang Eun Kyung, and the Doldam [family] actors, who have already showcased exceptional team work, through Season 3.”

“Dr. Romantic 3” will premiere in April as the follow-up to “Taxi Driver 2,” which currently occupies the time slot for Fridays and Saturdays at 10 p.m. KST.
