Here's Each Trainee's Shining Moment From The Last Round As "Boys Planet" Heads Into Its Final Mission
In case you haven’t heard, “Boys Planet” is coming to a close in the next couple of weeks – which means that the final group line-up is going to be decided very, very soon. The third elimination is coming up, bringing the existing 28 trainees down to just 18. If you want a refresher on the best each has to offer before the nail-biting vote cast, look no further. Here’s a rundown of each trainee’s best-of-the-best performance moments from last round!
“Say My Name” Team
This team was so well-suited for this song, it’s hard to pick the best moments! Sung Han Bin has been leading the “Boys Planet” pack during every ranking so far, and he really shines here in the center parts during the chorus. It totally highlights his magnetic stage presence. For vocalist Seok Matthew, the chorus is also his best – his beaming smile is completely irresistible, and his stable vocals keep the performance grounded. Fellow vocalist Yoo Seong Eon totally slayed the bridge, and his high notes showed off just how strong his voice is with the perfect level of control. Kim Ji Woong took a rap part for this song and unfortunately didn’t have as many lines this time around. However, his part with the glasses was super cute – and got an amazing reaction from the crowd! Last but not least, team maknae Han Yu Jin absolutely killed it as the opening and the closing parts of the performance. He set the mood of the stage so perfectly!
“En Garde” Team
With such a powerful performance that left nothing to be desired, there’s so much good to talk about. For Park Gun Wook, his dance is so strong that he stands out immediately when he’s leading the choreo – but his vocals are strong too! Kum Jun Hyeon and Lee Seung Hwan both proved themselves to be stellar vocalists this round. Jun Hyeon’s falsetto is gorgeous and amazingly stable, while Seung Hwan’s belt is so powerful that it stood out as one of the best parts of the whole stage. You can’t talk vocals without mentioning Lee Hoe Taek too – as PENTAGON’s leader and a K-pop industry veteran, he stuns with the dexterity and range of his riffs and other ad-libs. Finally, rappers Hiroto and Kim Gyu Vin gave a flawless performance as well. Their duet choreography near the end showed their skill off especially well, trading fluid rap lines and holding the audience’s attention captive with just two people.
“Over Me” Team
Spoiler alert! As the winning team from this round, it’s clear that this performance had it all – vocals, rap, and killer choreo. Lee Jeong Hyeon has emerged as one of the show’s leading all-rounders, and it’s where he shines the most! He got compliments from the show’s producers on both his vocal and rap sections, and his performance was no joke. Chen Kuan Jui stunned with his incredible dance skills from day one, and even with few lines he wowed everyone during the dance break with Zhang Hao. Speaking of Zhang Hao, it’s easy to see in this stage why he consistently ranks highly in evaluations – his chorus parts are smooth, effortless, and absolutely addictive to watch. Ricky’s stage presence and powerful execution of the choreo stood out even among a team of highly skilled trainees, and he perfectly embodied the performance. Last but not least, vocalist Jay had some seriously memorable riffs and high notes in this performance that are among his best in the show so far.
“Super Charger” Team
This was undoubtedly the underdog team this round, with less time to prepare and a physically demanding performance – but they still pulled it off perfectly! As the team’s leader and performance opener, Hiroto had a lot of responsibility this round. He was undeniably amazing though, with a stellar show of vocals and stage presence to kill. Cha Woong Ki hasn’t had much opportunity to flex his rap on a powerful stage like this one, but his rap verse was incredible! Wang Zi Hao also killed it in the rap department, but the final chorus where he led the choreography was no doubt his best moment. He’s such a talented dancer! Ollie and Takuto are some of the youngest contestants on the show, but they pulled off this performance really well – their duet section with the back-and-forth rap section takes a lot of practice and skill to make work, but they were flawless. Lastly, Seowon carried most of the higher notes on this song, and after choreo like that it’s all the more impressive!
“Switch” Team
This team brought their A-game, with a fun and playful performance that’s easy to watch again and again. For Park Han Bin, a lot of his strength is in his leadership, and he shines the most when he’s leading the dance break with his contagious energy. Keita has a similarly bright vibe in this performance, and his grounded vocals are some of his best – especially considering that he’s mostly taken rap lines up to this point. Na Kamden showed off one of his best rap verses with his iconic “body body” verse, and Zhang Shu Aibo brought some cool and creative gestures and expressions to his performance that made him stand out even with fewer lines. Yoon Jong Woo also killed his rap parts, but the flow he brought to his initial vocal line right out of the gate was stellar. Finally, Kim Tae Rae not only perfected the choreo, but his high notes were absolutely to die for!
