'The Uncanny Counter 2' Confirms Cast And Broadcast Schedule

The second season of “The Uncanny Counter” has confirmed its casting lineup!

Last October, “The Uncanny Counter” confirmed its return for a Season 2 and announced that although Season 1 aired on OCN, Season 2 was set to return on tvN.

On April 20, tvN announced, “‘The Uncanny Counter,’ which was greatly loved by viewers, will return for Season 2. The drama’s main leads — ‘The 5 Counters’— Jo Byeong Gyu (So Moon), Yoo Joon Sang (Ga Mo Tak), Kim Sejeong (Do Ha Na), Yeom Hye Ran (Choo Mae Ok), and Ahn Suk Hwan (Choi Jang Mool) are all confirmed to return and the drama will air as a Saturday-Sunday drama in the second half of 2023.”

Based on a webtoon, “The Uncanny Counter” is about demon hunters called “counters” who disguise themselves as employees of a noodle restaurant and hunt down demons who have come to Earth in pursuit of eternal life. During its run, the 2020 drama made history after recording the highest ratings in OCN history.

The upcoming season, titled “The Uncanny Counter 2: Counter Punch,” will draw out the return of the “counters” who have now become stronger after acquiring new powers and members. Expectations are rising as more powerful new demons are also expected to appear in front of the counters.

In addition to the five main leads, Jin Sun Kyu, Kang Ki Young, Kim Hieora, and Yoo In Soo have all been cast in the series.

Jin Sun Kyu will play the role of Joo Seok, a passionate firefighter who is also like a savior to So Moon and someone who can’t turn a blind eye to injustice.

Kang Ki Young of “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” and “The Glory” actress Kim Hieora will transform into powerful villains. Kang Ki Young will play the role of Pil Gwang, a demon who dreams of becoming the top predator with the most evil power, while Kim Hieora will be playing the role of Gelly, a character of pure evil.

Lastly, Yoo In Soo of “All of Us Are Dead” and “Alchemy of Souls” will be taking on the role of the newly recruited counter, Jeok Bong.

The production team shared, “We are doing our best to present you with a more fun and interesting Season 2 to repay the love you sent our way in Season 1. With stronger and more enhanced counters, demons, and strong teamwork, we will greet you with an upgraded Korean-style hero series, so please look forward to it and give it lots of interest.”

tvN’s new Saturday-Sunday drama “The Uncanny Counter 2” is set to premiere in the second half of 2023. Stay tuned for updates!
