NewJeans Officially Breaks Guinness World Record For Fastest K-Pop Act To Reach 1 Billion Streams On Spotify
Less than a year after their debut, NewJeans has officially set a new Guinness World Record!
Guinness World Records has now awarded NewJeans their first world record for becoming the fastest K-pop artist ever to reach 1 billion streams on Spotify. The group reached the milestone on March 8, meaning that it took them just 219 days to break the record.
The feat is all the more impressive considering that NewJeans only had six songs available on Spotify at the time: the four songs from their debut EP “NewJeans” (“Attention,” “Hype Boy,” “Cookie,” and “Hurt“) and the two songs from their single album “OMG” (“Ditto” and “OMG“).
BTS’s Jungkook currently holds the Guinness World Record for the fastest male K-pop soloist to reach 1 billion streams on Spotify, while BLACKPINK’s Lisa holds the record for the fastest female K-pop soloist.
Congratulations to NewJeans!
