BLACKPINK's Jisoo, BTS's Jimin, TWICE, And NewJeans Achieve Circle Million Certifications; NMIXX, iKON, And More Go Platinum
Circle Chart (formerly known as Gaon Chart) has announced its latest batch of official certifications!
In 2018, the Korea Music Content Industry Association implemented a new certification system for album sales, song downloads, and online streaming.
On May 11, Circle Chart announced its latest album certifications. Albums are certified platinum at 250,000 sales and certified million once they reach a million copies sold.
Four artists scored new million certifications this month, starting with BLACKPINK’s Jisoo for her solo debut album “ME.” This marks the first-ever million seller album by a female soloist in Circle chart history!
Also scoring million certifications were BTS’s Jimin’s solo debut album “FACE” and TWICE’s 12th mini album “READY TO BE,” which both dropped in March.
The last million certification for the month was awarded to NewJeans for their first single album “OMG.”
After surpassing 750,000 album sales, NMIXX’s first EP “expérgo” officially earned a triple platinum certification.
In addition to scoring a million certification this month, the Weverse version of Jimin’s “FACE” has gone platinum with over 250,000 units sold. Lastly, CRAVITY’s fifth mini album “MASTER : PIECE,” which dropped last month, achieved a platinum certification.
In the streaming category, songs earn platinum certifications after surpassing 100 million streams. Six songs went platinum this month, including IVE’s “After LIKE,” NewJeans’ “Attention,” Younha’s “Event Horizon,” Super Junior’s Kyuhyun’s “The Moment My Heart,” Conan Gray’s “Maniac,” and BLACKPINK’s “Kill This Love.”
The only song to receive a double platinum certification with over 200 million streams was “LOVE SCENARIO” by iKON, the group’s smash hit from 2018.
Congratulations to all the artists!
