IU Donates 250 Million Won To Meaningful Causes For Her Birthday

IU celebrates her birthday today in a meaningful way!

On May 16, IU uploaded four donation certificates on Twitter, showing that she had made a generous donation of 250 million won (approximately $186,800) for her birthday. IU had donated to four different foundations: The Happiness Foundation, Heart to Heart Foundation, KUMFA (Korean Unwed Mothers Families Association), and KFSSC (Korean Foundation for Support of the Senior Citizen in need) under the name “IUAENA,” which is a combination of IU and her fan club UAENA.

She added the caption, “Things that I learned from UAENA, things that I felt through UAENA, and things that I received from UAENA will always be materials that get IU to move and practice [kindness]. I love you. Thank you so much for today as well.”

Previously on May 5, in honor of Children’s Day (a national holiday celebrated in Korea on May 5), IU had also gifted a lunch of pizza and drinks, as well as rice cakes she prepared with her mother to the students and teachers at Milal School, a special school for children with disabilities. Additionally, IU also made a donation of 100 million won (approximately $74,700) to ChildFund Korea, a foundation she has made annual donations to since 2015.
