Hwang Minhyun In Talks To Star In New Drama Based On Webtoon "Study Group"
Hwang Minhyun may be gearing up to return to the small screen!
On May 22, an industry insider reported that Hwang Minhyun will be starring in the new TVING original series “Study Group” (literal title) as the lead.
In response to the reports, a source from PLEDIS Entertainment shared, “Hwang Minhyun received an offer to star in ‘Study Group.’ He is positively reviewing the offer.”
Based on the webtoon of the same name, “Study Group” follows the life of student Yoon Ga Min, who wants to be good at studying but is only good at fighting, as he forms a study group at the worst school on earth and tells a fierce story about college entrance exams.
Hwang Minhyun will reportedly play Yoon Ga Min, who looks like a model student but is a student of Yusung Technical High School, which is one of the worst schools to study at. Although he studies extremely hard, his grades don’t rise in the slightest. Despite all that, Yoon Ga Min sits diligently at his desk with the goal of going to college. However, when his study group friends get bullied, Yoon Ga Min takes off his glasses and school uniform jacket to put his fighting skills to use.
Previously, Hwang Minhyun starred in tvN’s hit drama “Alchemy of Souls,” and he made his official solo debut with “Hidden Side.”
“Study Group” will be helmed by director Lee Jang Hoon of “Miracle: Letters to the President” and “Be With You.” Filming will reportedly begin once casting for the leads is complete. Stay tuned for more updates!
