'Numbers' Writers Dish On Drama's Charms, Stars Kim Myung Soo, Choi Jin Hyuk, And Choi Min Soo, And More

The writers of MBC’s upcoming drama “Numbers” have dished on the drama and cast members!

“Numbers” is a suspenseful new revenge drama set against the backdrop of a major accounting firm. In what marks his first acting project since his return from the military, INFINITE’s Kim Myung Soo (L) will star as Jang Ho Woo, the first accountant without a college degree to join the prestigious Taeil Accounting Firm. Choi Jin Hyuk will play Han Seung Jo, a talented accountant from a wealthy family.

Ahead of the drama’s premiere, writers Jung An and Oh Hye Seok shared interesting behind-the-scenes stories of the drama. They shared, “Many people may think that the [drama] is difficult or somewhat unfamiliar because it tells the story of accountants who deal with numbers. We focused on the story of ‘people’ who deal with numbers. We wanted to talk about various events and emotions that the characters will encounter through numbers.”

The writers also emphasized, “It mainly appears to be an office drama, but the strength of ‘Numbers’ is that various genres are melted into it,” and added that each of the episodes will highlight different genres such as romance, action, and noir.

Writers Jung An and Oh Hye Seok also expressed their affection and trust for the actors. They said, “It felt like actors Kim Myung Soo and Choi Jin Hyuk became [their characters] Ho Woo and Seung Jo themselves as filming went on. Whenever we see the actors who are immersed in their roles, we mistakenly think that we may have thought of the characters after meeting [the actors] first. Moreover, actor Choi Min Soo’s facial expressions which change in an instant are another highlight of this drama. It was surprising how he and actor Choi Jin Hyuk resembled each other to the extent that they look like father and son in real life.”

Lastly, the writers remarked, “We want to share a bit of comfort and sympathy with viewers through the characters who endure in their own way to fight against those who wield their power and knowledge to attain more when they already got more than enough.”

“Numbers” will premiere on June 23 at 9:50 p.m. KST and will be available with subtitles on Viki. Check out the latest teaser for the drama here!
