JTBC’s “King the Land” finally premieres this weekend!
“King the Land” will tell the story of the unlikely romance between Gu Won (2PM’s Lee Junho), a chaebol heir who can’t stand fake smiles, and the constantly smiling Cheon Sa Rang (Girls’ Generation’s YoonA), who becomes known as the “queen of smiles” while working her way up at the King Hotel.
Ahead of this weekend’s premiere, “King the Land” has dropped three exciting points to look forward to!
Lee Junho and Yunho’s perfect acting and visual chemistry
The “King the Land” casting announcement alone garnered tons of attention and interest for the collaboration between Lee Junho and YoonA, two second-generation idols who have both showcased the depth of their acting in a wide variety of projects. In the drama’s latest poster, the two actors teased their eye-catching chemistry, raising anticipation even more for the new rom-com!
In addition to being the perfect duo, both actors are said to have perfectly immersed into their roles. Their teamwork will expand through their work with co-stars Go Won Hee, Kim Ga Eun, Ahn Se Ha, Kim Jae Won, and more.
Gu Won who despises smiles and smile queen Cheon Sa Rang who can’t help but smile
“King the Land” kicks off with the dramatic encounter between Gu Won, who can’t stand fake smiles, and King Hotel employee Cheon Sa Rang, a smile queen who strives to fill her workplace with sincerely bright smiles. However, matters grow worse when Gu Won and Cheon Sa Rang realize their opposing opinions on smiles are far from being the only thing that makes them different.
As they’ve led entirely different lives, they quickly realize that each other’s worlds are like never-before-seen universes. Although they get off to a rocky start, they slowly begin to mesh into one another’s lives as time goes on. Stay tuned to find out how their cold and coincidental bond turns into a sweet, romantic relationship.
We are one, despite having different goals
At a young age, Gu Won endures the pain of his mother mysteriously disappearing. Years later, he returns to King Hotel, where it all started, to try and trace her down. On the contrary, Cheon Sa Rang returns to King Hotel, where she has numerous happy memories with her mother, to become a hotelier and gift guests a positive experience.
Cheon Sa Rang’s friend Oh Pyung Hwa (Go Won Hee) becomes a flight attendant because she loves flying, while their other friend Kang Da Eul (Kim Ga Eun) is a hardworking “super woman” who takes care of everything, from her career to her family and friends.
Noh Sang Sik (Ahn Se Ha) works under Gu Won, although they began working at King Hotel at the same time, and he is always busy walking on eggshells around him. Lastly, Lee Ro Woon (Kim Jae Won) is a flight attendant with a one-sided crush on his co-worker Oh Pyung Hwa.
Although all six characters have vastly different goals, they are all living busily and competitively in their own ways. They are tied together through their close and unique friendships, which give them the opportunity to rediscover their original dreams. On this journey, they’ll also bring out their true selves that have been hiding behind their forced smiles.
