Cha Seung Won, Kim Sung Kyun, And THE BOYZ's Juyeon's Upcoming tvN Variety Show Announces Broadcast Details

Broadcast details have been shared for tvN’s upcoming variety show!

According to tvN on June 19, producing director (PD) Bang Geul Yi, who previously helmed KBS 2TV’s “2 Days & 1 Night Season 4,” will soon be launching a new variety program titled “Following Hyung to Maya” (literal translation). The show follows the adventurous search of the secret key to the Mayan civilization and features cast members Cha Seung Won, Kim Sung Kyun, and THE BOYZ’s Juyeon, who were confirmed for the program back in April.

“Following Hyung to Maya” is Korea’s first variety show that explores ancient civilization and will showcase the current Mayan experience and the investigation into Maya’s past as the cast embarks on a journey to collect keys that will unlock a treasure chest. Viewers can look forward to this “variety show version ‘Indiana Jones'” that will combine vacation, civilization exploration, and missions into one program.

This marks Cha Seung Won’s first fixed tvN variety show appearance in three years after “Three Meals A Day – Fishing Village 5.” The actor played a big role in planning this program after surprising the production team with his vast knowledge as a self-proclaimed “ancient civilization fan.” The team explained, “Cha Seung Won partook in this program more sincerely than anyone else and that’s why he seriously explored Mayan civilization and enjoyed it intellectually.”

Also joining Cha Seung Won is his “Sinkhole” co-star Kim Sung Kyun, raising anticipation for the duo’s chemistry on a variety show. “Following Hyung to Maya” will be Kim Sung Kyun’s first-ever fixed variety show appearance, making his unexpected charms and wit a key point to watch out for.

The final cast member is THE BOYZ member Juyeon, who Cha Seung Won is said to be a very big fan of. Stay tuned for the chemistry Juyeon will have with Cha Seung Won, who is both a self-proclaimed “ancient civilization fan” and “Juyeon fan”!

PD Bang Geul Yi commented, “Through Korea’s first ancient civilization exploration variety show ‘Following Hyung to Maya,’ we will deliver a distinguished fun that makes viewers’ eyes, ears, and heads all happy.”

She added, “We plan to showcase the surprising humanities knowledge and desire to explore of Cha Seung Won, who stands at the center of this program’s beginning and end, the perfect teamwork of the exploration expedition Cha Seung Won, Kim Sung Kyun, and Juyeon, and the landscape of mysterious ruins that you have never seen on a variety show, as well as the current upgraded version of cooking by ‘Cha-jumma’ that you’ve been waiting for, so please look forward to it.”

“Following Hyung to Maya” is set to begin airing this August!
