MONSTA X's Hyungwon To Step Down As 'Inkigayo' MC; Kim Ji Eun Reported To Also Be Leaving

After three months, it looks as though MONSTA X’s Hyungwon and Kim Ji Eun will be stepping down from their MC positions on SBS’s “Inkigayo.”

On July 14, both Hyungwon and Kim Ji Eun were reported to be leaving the weekly music show. The two stars first began hosting “Inkigayo” back in April.

Later that day, Hyungwon’s agency Starship Entertainment confirmed that this week’s broadcast of “Inkigayo”—which airs on July 16—will mark his final episode as MC.

Hyungwon remarked, “I was happy to have been able to meet Monbebes [MONSTA X’s fans] and viewers every Sunday as an ‘Inkigayo’ MC. Because it was my first time hosting a music show, I must have been lacking in some ways, but thanks to the love and support I received from you all, I think I’ll be able to wrap up with only happy memories. Thank you.”

“I’d also like to thank my fellow ‘Inkigayo’ MC Kim Ji Eun and all the other staff who worked hard together every week,” he continued. “Although I’ll be saying goodbye as MC Hyungwon, I’ll be greeting you again soon through my unit promotions as Shownu X Hyungwon, so please give lots of love to both ‘Inkigayo’ and Shownu X Hyungwon.”

Meanwhile, Kim Ji Eun’s agency has not yet responded to the reports of her departure.

Hyungwon’s final episode of “Inkigayo” will air on July 16 at 3:40 p.m. KST.
