SM Says NCT's Contracts Won’t Expire Until At Least The End Of 2024
With the majority of NCT’s members reaching the seventh anniversary of their debut this year, SM Entertainment has clarified that none of the members’ contracts will expire until the end of 2024.
Amidst ongoing speculation about BLACKPINK‘s future due to the girl group’s contracts with YG Entertainment expiring in 2023, SM Entertainment has revealed that—despite having mostly debuted in the same year as BLACKPINK—the NCT members’ contracts are not due to expire just yet.
On July 17, a representative of SM Entertainment told Korean news outlet Herald Business, “At the time that NCT signed their contracts, we factored in elements such as their military enlistment and overseas activities, so their contract periods were set to be longer than the usual [seven years].”
“Although there are differences between individual members, there is no member whose contract expires this year,” they continued. “All of the members’ [contracts] are set to expire starting from the end of next year or later.”
