WINNER’s Kim Jin Woo Dishes On His “My Lovely Boxer” Character, Why He Chose To Star In The Drama, And More
WINNER’s Kim Jin Woo is ready to charm audiences of “My Lovely Boxer”!
“My Lovely Boxer” is a sports drama based on the novel “My Lovely Boxer Lee Kwon Sook” written by Choo Jong Nam, the winner of the second Kyobo Bookstore Story Contest. It is a story about genius boxer Lee Kwon Sook (Kim So Hye) and a cold-blooded agent Kim Tae Young (Lee Sang Yeob) who doesn’t feel guilty of match-fixing for money and the success of his athletes.
Kim Jin Woo stars as Han Jae Min who captivates everyone with his natural silver tongue as well as his handsome face. His mother runs a preschool, which Han Jae Min is the vice principal of due to his family connection.
Regarding his reason for starring in “My Lovely Boxer,” Kim Jin Woo shared, “The story, which I was curious to find out what would come next, and the way each character matured left a deep impression. As the story progresses, Han Jae Min will also change gradually and grow, and I only hope to show diverse sides of me through Jae Min.”
On his role of Han Jae Min, Kim Jin Woo shared, “He is an affectionate yet cold figure who appears to be giving the other person [a place] by his side but doesn’t. Jae Min’s charm is that both sides of him exist.”
Kim Jin Woo remarked, “While reading the script, I imagined Jae Min’s hidden narratives. In particular, when Jae Min is with Kwon Sook, I hoped that he would seem clumsy with the emotion of love despite having a lot of relationship experience.”
Kim Jin Woo picked “youth,” “love,” and “growth” as the key words to describe “My Lovely Boxer.” He elaborated, “The project’s charm is that all the characters are alive and breathing. This is my first time greeting [viewers] through a long form of acting, so you will be able to see how the vibes of Jae Min at the start, beginning, and end slightly change. I will be grateful if you watch while anticipating that change in Jae Min.”
Finally, Kim Jin Woo concluded, “The times I filmed happily with the director, senior actors, and staff are still vivid. Viewers will be able to enjoy the drama even more richly when focusing on the stories that each character has.”
“My Lovely Boxer” will premiere on August 21 at 9:45 p.m. KST as the follow-up to “Heartbeat.”
