Ryeoun, Choi Hyun Wook, Seol In Ah, And Shin Eun Soo Delve Into Characters At "Twinkling Watermelon" Script Reading
tvN’s upcoming drama “Twinkling Watermelon” has shared photos from their first script reading!
On August 18, tvN revealed that actors including Ryeoun, Choi Hyun Wook, Seol In Ah, and Shin Eun Soo as well as the production team including writer Jin Soo Wan and directors Son Jung Hyun and Yoo Beom Sang attended the first script reading for “Twinkling Watermelon,” rehearsing together in an energetic atmosphere.
“Twinkling Watermelon” is a fantasy coming-of-age drama in which a CODA (child of deaf adult) student born with a gift for music crash lands at an unfamiliar place after time traveling through a suspicious music shop. There, he forms the band Watermelon Sugar with other mysterious youths.
Ryeoun plays Eun Gyeol, the only person who can hear in his deaf family and who leads a double life as the perfect model student by day and a band guitarist by night. Ryeoun impressed the production team by demonstrating simple sign language or making hand gestures to describe guitar play throughout the script reading.
Choi Hyun Wook takes on the role of the passionate Lee Chan. Since Lee Chan grew up along with older college students at his grandmother’s boarding house, he is full of Generation X vibes. Choi Hyun Wook doubled the charm of his character by showcasing subtle hand gestures and a slick way of speaking.
Seol In Ah transforms into Seowon Arts High School’s cello goddess Se Kyung, who is known as a muse to many due to her pure and elegant beauty and aura. She showcased great chemistry with co-star Choi Hyun Wook, who plays Lee Chan, a student who has a crush on her, raising anticipation for their youthful romance.
Shin Eun Soo plays the cold and haughty “ice princess” Chung Ah, who has been deaf since birth. The actress expressed her character’s emotions using a calm facial expression and short communications, empathizing with her character.
Choi Won Young and Seo Young Hee, who play Eun Gyeol’s father and mother, Chun Ho Jin, who plays the old man owning an instrument shop, and Jung Sang Hoon, who plays a master, have added depth to the story with their profound acting skills.
“Twinkling Watermelon” is set to premiere on October 2 at 8:50 p.m. KST. Stay tuned!
