Yoo Na Is A Genius Girl Who Has A Strange Bond With Her Kidnapper In Upcoming Comedy Drama
ENA’s upcoming drama “The Kidnapping Day” has released new stills of Yoo Na!
Based on the novel of the same name, “The Kidnapping Day” is a black comedy about the unlikely alliance between a blundering kidnapper and a genius 11-year-old girl. Yoon Kye Sang will star as Kim Myung Joon, a first-time kidnapper who gets involved in an abduction to raise money for his daughter’s hospital fees, while Yoo Na of “Pachinko” will play the cynical 11-year-old Choi Ro Hee, who has a brilliant mind but has lost her memory.
The released stills capture Choi Ro Hee with a chic and calm expression. In one still, she is looking at Kim Myung Joon with her arms crossed and a mixture of wariness and curiosity in her eyes, making viewers curious about their unusual story as well as their very first meeting. The chemistry between novice kidnapper Kim Myung Joon and genius girl Choi Ro Hee is one of the points to look forward to in “The Kidnapping Day.”
The casting process for the role of Choi Ro Hee took five rounds of extensive auditions as the character is central to the story. Yoo Na, who was selected for the role, commented, “I felt great happiness that I was able to portray Ro Hee, but I also cried because it was overwhelming. The audition process was also a special memory for me.”
Yoo Na continued, “Ro Hee became a cold child to protect herself because of the environment she grew up in, but she actually has a warm heart. I focused on expressing the warmth that comes from the heart of an ordinary 11-year-old girl, even if she looks cold and blunt on the outside. If you look into the meaning of what she says and does to Myung Joon, you will see the charm of Ro Hee.”
“The Kidnapping Day” premieres on September 13 at 9 p.m. KST.
