Honey Lee, Bang Hyo Rin, Jin Sun Kyu, And Jo Hyun Chul Confirmed For New Drama
The cast for the new drama “AEMA” has been confirmed!
Netflix announced that Honey Lee, Bang Hyo Rin, Jin Sun Kyu, and Jo Hyun Chul will be starring in the new series “AEMA.” The new drama is a fictional comedy drama depicting the creators of the film “Madame Aema” in the early 1980s. The drama will portray the stories of star actresses, rookie actresses, producers, and directors of that time period as they produce a film in an enticing and comical way.
Honey Lee will star as Jung Hee Ran, a top actress of her time who loses the lead role in her newest movie due to a conflict with the production team. Honey Lee is best known for her performances in dramas including “The Fiery Priest,” “One the Woman,” and “The Rebel,” and viewers can look forward to her transformation into a fiery character in “AEMA.”
Bang Hyo Rin will be playing Shin Joo Ae, a newbie actress who gets the lead role in “Madame Aema.” Shin Joo Ae is an aspiring actress who makes a living as a dancer at a nightclub but soon has her entire world flipped upside down when she gets chosen to be the star in the most talked-about and highly-anticipated film.
Producer Goo Joong Ho will be played by Jin Sun Kyu, who is well-known for his stellar performances in productions such as “The Outlaws” and “Man of Men.” Goo Joong Ho enriches the plot of the new drama series by giving the main role to a rookie actress after holding extensive auditions, all for the sake of coming out on top in the competitive film industry.
Jo Hyun Chul will play rookie director Kwak In Woo, who is set to make his directorial debut through “Madame Aema.” Jo Hyun Chul left quite an impression on global audiences through his remarkable performances in other drama series including “D.P.,” “Hotel Del Luna,” and “Mal. Mo. E – The Secret Mission.”
In terms of production, “AEMA” will be directed by Lee Hae Young, the genius behind productions including “Believer,” “Ghost,” and “Like a Virgin.” The series will be produced by The Ramp. The production company received critical acclaim for its true story-based works including “Mal. Mo. E – The Secret Mission” and “Samjin Company English Class.”
