NewJeans Becomes 1st K-Pop Girl Group To Top Billboard's World Albums Chart For 7 Weeks With One Album
NewJeans set more than one new record on the Billboard charts this week!
On September 19 local time, Billboard revealed that NewJeans’ latest mini album “Get Up” had successfully charted for an eighth consecutive week in the top 40 of the Billboard 200. For the week ending on September 23, “Get Up” held relatively steady at No. 36.
With this achievement, NewJeans has now become the first female K-pop artist to chart an album for eight consecutive weeks in the top 40 of the Billboard 200.
“Get Up” also spent its seventh non-consecutive week at No. 1 on Billboard’s World Albums chart—making it the first K-pop girl group album in history to top the chart for seven weeks.
Meanwhile, NewJeans’ hit single “Super Shy” rose to a new peak of No. 37 in its second week on Billboard’s Pop Airplay chart, which measures weekly plays on mainstream Top 40 radio stations across the United States.
“Get Up” stayed strong at No. 6 on both the Top Album Sales chart and the Top Current Album Sales chart in its eighth week, in addition to ranking No. 18 on the Tastemaker Albums chart.
On Billboard’s Global Excl. U.S. chart, “Super Shy” took No. 12 this week, followed by “ETA” at No. 36, “OMG” at No. 113, “Ditto” at No. 122, “Hype Boy” at No. 157, and “New Jeans” at No. 166. On the Global 200, “Super Shy” came in at No. 24, “ETA” at No. 64, and “OMG” at No. 186.
Finally, NewJeans charted at No. 37 on this week’s Artist 100, marking their 12th non-consecutive week on the chart. NewJeans is now the K-pop girl group with the fourth most cumulative weeks on the Artist 100, following TWICE, BLACKPINK, and FIFTY FIFTY.
