4 Heart-Fluttering Fantasy K-Dramas To Enjoy During The Fall

The summer has ended, and as the days start to get more chill, you will probably want to stay indoors for more time to relax and avoid the cold weather. Then again, there’s no better time to start watching some K-dramas to warm up your heart than the fall, and some of the following dramas understood this assignment perfectly. They turn this season into the most heart-fluttering of them all, adding not only the romance to it but the fantasy as well. Here are four dramas to enjoy during the fall season!

“Guardian: The Lonely and Great God”

To start off this list we have “Guardian: The Lonely and Great God” (“Goblin”), one of the most popular K-dramas from the past decade. This drama included a top-tier cast such as Gong Yoo, Kim Go Eun, Yoo In Na, and Lee Dong Wook as the main characters, a great production, and even an original soundtrack filled with several songs that became major hits, turning it into one of the most distinctive fantasy dramas. The story starts in ancient Korea, where the general Kim Shin is betrayed and accused of treason, condemned to die along with his family and followers. Due to his great resentment, he is turned into a Goblin by the gods, cursed to live until he finds the bride who will free him.

Although it has many memorable moments like an epic war battle, funny bickering between a goblin and a grim reaper, and two timelines in the story, the scene that stays in the memory the most is the one where Ji Eun Tak (Kim Go Eun) and Kim Shin (Gong Yoo) travel all the way to Canada and she decides to love him from then on. What could portray the fall season better than maple leaves falling from the trees while Eun Tak confesses her love to the Goblin she has waited for for so long? If you are craving an almost classic fantasy K-drama show, this is the cue for you to start binge-watching it.

My Roommate Is a Gumiho

Life as a college student can be quite hectic and difficult. Everything can become a struggle, but all of that is nothing when you suddenly find yourself in the house of a handsome but strange man that claims to be a gumiho—a mythical fox with nine tails. The problem? The bead that will turn him into a human is now inside your body! This is exactly what happens to Lee Dam (Hyeri). Shin Woo Yeo (Jang Ki Yong) has lived as a gumiho for almost a thousand years, and as he is running out of time, having a young woman in possession of his precious bead is the last thing he ever wanted.

Though it is almost impossible for Lee Dam to believe it, after she starts to feel the power of the bead on her body, she has no choice but to trust him and accept his conditions. That is how the two of them start their cohabitation, which of course brings all sorts of situations that will make them get closer and closer. Woo Yeo will have to find out if the attraction he feels toward Lee Dam is due only to his desire to turn into a human or true love. This series has the perfect combination of comical moments thanks to Hyeri’s hilarious reactions, and what’s more important, there are many heart-fluttering moments courtesy of Jang Ki Yong’s irresistible charms, which make it one of the most recommendable fantasy K-dramas.

Doom at Your Service

If spring is the season where everything blooms, then autumn is the one where everything starts to perish. However, this doesn’t necessarily have to be something bad, and that’s exactly what “Doom at Your Service” teaches us. Tak Dong Kyung (Park Bo Young) seems to be a young and lively woman, at least until she receives the news that she has only three months left to live. As her whole world crumbles under her feet, she wishes that the rest of the world ends, without considering that there is someone who is willing to make her wish come true. Myul Mang (Seo In Guk), the doom that brings death and finishes everything in the world, literally knocks at her door, offering her a way to save her life in exchange to destroy the world.

As the two of them come and go, trying to accomplish what they desire, they will end up understanding a new way of seeing life and falling in love. If the interesting plot of this drama doesn’t convince you to start watching, then the magnetic chemistry between Park Bo Young and Seo In Guk will surely hook you right from the start. Both of them show brilliant acting performances that will make you laugh and cry during every single episode.
