Rowoon And Cho Yi Hyun Deny Attraction Despite Being Romantic In "The Matchmakers" Poster
KBS2’s “The Matchmakers” has dropped another new poster!
“The Matchmakers” tells the story of the meeting between the young widower Shim Jung Woo (Rowoon) and young widow Jung Soon Deok (Cho Yi Hyun) as well as the struggle the two go through together to marry off Joseon era’s unmarried women and men who are considered older than the typical prime age range.
Rowoon takes on the role of Shim Jung Woo, the widowed son-in-law of the king and a royal secret inspector whose hopes of entering the government or marriage slip away when the princess he’s meant to marry passes away during their wedding ceremony.
Cho Yi Hyun plays Jung Soon Deok, the second daughter-in-law of the first vice-premier’s family who lives a double life as Mrs. Yeo Joo, the best matchmaker in Hanyang City.
In contrast to the previously released lively poster of the grumpy Shim Jung Woo and the charismatic Mrs. Yeo Joo, the new romantic version of the main poster captivates viewers as Rowoon showcases the serious and sincere side of Shim Jung Woo while Cho Yi Hyun dresses modestly as the innocent Jung Soon Deok.
Set against a colorful lantern backdrop, Shim Jung Woo and Jung Soon Deok create a picturesque scene. As Shim Jung Woo reaches out to grasp a lantern, his other hand naturally finds its place on Jung Soon Deok’s shoulder. Her relaxed demeanor in his embrace, coupled with her gentle expression and warm gaze, evokes a lovely atmosphere.
However, the caption above them which reads, “I didn’t fall for you,” creates a stark contrast with the romantic ambiance, arousing anticipation and curiosity. Viewers are eager to find out the story that will unfold as Shim Jung Woo and Jung Soon Deok embark on their quest for true love.
The production team commented, “Presenting a blend of humor, romance, and heartwarming scenes, ‘The Matchmakers’ is set to introduce a versatile historical comedy-romance drama that captures the essence of ‘Joseon-style Love Actually.’ We kindly ask for your high expectations.”
“The Matchmakers” is scheduled to premiere on October 30 at 9:45 p.m. KST and will be available on Viki.
