Cho Yi Hyun Takes A Bold Step Toward Rowoon In 'The Matchmakers'

KBS2’s “The Matchmakers” has dropped new stills ahead of its premiere!

“The Matchmakers” tells the story of the meeting between the young widower Shim Jung Woo (Rowoon) and young widow Jung Soon Deok (Cho Yi Hyun) as well as the struggle the two go through together to marry off Joseon era’s unmarried women and men who are considered older than the typical prime age range.

Shim Jung Woo is the widowed son-in-law of the king who is brilliant enough to become the youngest person to pass the Civil Service Exam. However, he is also a person of misfortune whose chances for a higher social status and future marriage prospects slip away when the princess he’s meant to marry passes away during their wedding ceremony.

Cho Yi Hyun plays Jung Soon Deok, the second daughter-in-law of the first vice-premier’s family who lives a double life as Mrs. Yeo Joo, the best matchmaker in Hanyang City.

The newly released stills depict the first encounter between Shim Jung Woo and Jung Soon Deok at a book store in Hongwol Guest House. As Shim Jung Woo is reading Joseon’s romance novel with rapt attention, Jung Soon Deok suddenly appears as Mrs. Yeo Joo and sends a suggestive glance.

When Mrs. Yeo Joo approaches him, Shim Jung Woo gets flustered and steps backwards, creating a rather hilarious scene. Viewers are excited to find out why Shim Jung Woo is so surprised and how Jung Soon Deok will react.

The production team shared, “Rowoon and Cho Yi Hyun will create the most lovable sageuk characters with their rich charms and tight acting skills. Through the October 30 premiere of ‘The Matchmakers,’ please admire their great acting.”

“The Matchmakers” is set to premiere on October 30 at 9:45 p.m. KST and will be available on Viki. Stay tuned!
