'Castaway Diva' Apologizes For Insufficient Restoration Process After Filming

The production team of “Castaway Diva” has apologized regarding their insufficient recovery process after filming.

Recently, controversy arose as suspicions were raised that a drama team left a large amount of stones used for production unattended after they finished filming on a beach on Jeju Island. The shape of stones matched perfectly with the rocks that were used in one of the scenes of the popular drama “Castaway Diva,” in which the main character makes an SOS signal on the beach using rocks. Later, it was also reported that the production team of “Castaway Diva” allegedly did not go through the process of getting the administrative city’s cooperation and permission which is necessary for the use and occupancy of public waters for filming.

On November 13, the production team explained that there was a possibility of additional filming later, so they decided to leave the stones in one place after consulting with the town officials. However, as the controversy continued to surge, the production team released an official statement later that day, sharing, “We would like to express our deepest apology for the inconvenience caused to residents. Although we proceeded to film after explaining the production to residents and related organizations in advance, there were shortcomings in our filming and recovery process. We will restore [the filming site] to its original state as soon as possible.”

“Castaway Diva” is a rom-com drama starring Park Eun Bin as Seo Mok Ha, an aspiring singer who gets stranded on a deserted island while traveling to Seoul for an audition. The drama marks the reunion of director Oh Choong Hwan and writer Park Hye Ryun, who previously worked together on “While You Were Sleeping” and “Start-Up.”
