"12.12: The Day" Is 1st Korean Film Of 2023 To Surpass 11 Million Moviegoers
“12.12: The Day” is officially the biggest box office hit of the year!
According to the Korean Film Council, as of December 27, “12.12: The Day” had reached an impressive total of 11,003,168 moviegoers—making it the first Korean film to reach the milestone in 2023.
The star-studded historical film has now overtaken the smash hit “The Roundup: No Way Out” (“The Outlaws 3”) as the most-watched Korean movie of the year, and it pulled off the feat in just the first 36 days of its release.
Starring Hwang Jung Min, Jung Woo Sung, Lee Sung Min, and more, “12.12: The Day” is a historical film about the real-life military coup that shook South Korea following the assassination of President Park Chung Hee in 1979.
With “12.12: The Day” still drawing moviegoers to theaters, it remains to be seen just how much higher the film’s admissions will climb before the end of its run.
Congratulations to the cast and crew!
