Jo Jung Suk And Choi Dae Hoon Are Brothers In Riveting Battle For The Throne In 'Captivating The King'

tvN’s upcoming drama “Captivating the King” has unveiled a glimpse of Jo Jung Suk and Choi Dae Hoon’s sibling rivalry!

Written by Kim Sun Deok of tvN’s “The Crowned Clown,” “Captivating the King” tells the cruel love story between King Yi In (Jo Jung Suk), a miserable king who harbors an emptiness within him despite his high position, and Kang Hee Soo (Shin Se Kyung), whose initial motive of seeking revenge against him transforms into an unexpected attraction.

Jo Jung Suk takes on the role of Yi In, a prince wounded by the harsh reality that his unwavering loyalty to his beloved elder brother King Yi Sun is misconstrued as a traitorous act. Choi Dae Hoon portrays Yi Sun, the king of the nation and Yi In’s step-older brother. Plagued by feelings of inferiority towards the perfect Yi In and haunted by the constant fear of being dethroned, Yi Sun succumbs to madness, setting the stage for an intense clash with Yi In for the throne.

The newly released stills capture Yi In and Yi Sun facing each other in an intense and icy confrontation. Yi Soon’s face is shrouded in deep shadows, appearing unwell. Disheveled and seemingly fatigued, Yi Sun directs a chilling gaze toward Yi In, evoking both tension and unease. The atmosphere suggests an imminent emotional outburst, heightening viewers’ anticipation for the forthcoming conversation between the two brothers.

On the other hand, Yi In lowers his head respectfully and adheres to proper etiquette in the presence of his elder brother. The sharp yet cautious look in Yi In’s eyes as he observes Yi Sun is brimming with fear and caution. One still especially captures Yi In’s surprised expression at Yi Sun’s words, further piquing curiosity about the evolving situation.

The interaction between Yi In and Yi Sun promises a captivating twist in the narrative, unveiling the different destinies of the brothers. Despite being stepbrothers, Yi In and Yi Sun initially showcased an exceptional brotherly bond, with Yi In even vowing to live as a devoted subject to his brother who cherished him since childhood. However, the stills exude a tense atmosphere, prompting questions about the forthcoming dramatic developments between the two.

The production team remarked, “Jo Jung Suk and Choi Dae Hoon delivered a flawless performance of the brothers’ intense conflict over the throne, capturing the characters’ emotions through their expressive eyes and tone of speech. Please look forward to the compelling narrative of the two brothers’ conflict.”

“Captivating the King” will premiere on January 21 with Episodes 1 and 2 airing consecutively.
