Jo Byeong Gyu Turns Down Offer To Star In New Historical Drama
Jo Byeong Gyu has decided not to star in the upcoming drama “Saeraenadae” (romanized title).
On January 12, a source from Jo Byeong Gyu’s agency HB Entertainment shared, “It is true Jo Byeong Gyu received an offer to play the male lead in the new drama ‘Saeraenadae,’ but due to scheduling conflicts, he respectfully turned down the offer.”
Set against the backdrop of a virtual Joseon, “Saeraenadae” depicts the love story between a prince of Joseon aspiring to find happiness outside the country, and a young lady from a humble background determined to achieve success in Joseon.
Jo Byeong Gyu was reportedly offered the role of Park Yeong, a Joseon prince who disguises himself as a reclusive unemployed man.
Meanwhile, Jo Byeong Gyu is currently awaiting a reexamination to enlist as an active-duty soldier in the latter half of this year. Despite receiving a Grade 4 (non-active duty) military assessment last year due to scoliosis, as the actor is determined to fulfill his mandatory military service as an active-duty soldier, he has applied for a reexamination and is slated to undergo another physical examination around June or July this year.
In addition to his military preparations, Jo Byeong Gyu is also actively engaged in the filming of his upcoming movie “Even If I Die, One More Time” (working title) and is concurrently working on a new drama titled “Paradise.”
