Jo Jung Suk And Yoo Yeon Seok Stun In Posters For Musical “Hedwig And The Angry Inch”

Jo Jung Suk and Yoo Yeon Seok will once again portray Hedwig in the highly acclaimed musical “Hedwig and the Angry Inch”!

Since its South Korean premiere in 2005, “Hedwig and the Angry Inch” has established itself as a notable show that boasts an impressive 13-season run. The musical tells the journey of Hedwig, an East German rock star overcoming the scars of the past and launching a new purposeful life through music.

Returning for its 14th season, “Hedwig and the Angry Inch” promises a more immersive and rich performance by actively incorporating various stage elements such as set design, visualization, and live streaming during performances. Notably, this season marks the return of the audience’s enthusiastic cheers and interactive communication between the performers and the audience—a hallmark of the show that was restricted in the previous season due to the pandemic.

Leading the upcoming season are actors Jo Jung Suk, Yoo Yeon Seok, and Jeon Dong Seok in the role of Hedwig.

Jo Jung Suk is returning to the role after an eight-year hiatus since 2016. Having portrayed Hedwig since 2006, Jo Jung Suk has captivated audiences with his exceptional character interpretation, expression, and agility.

Jo Jung Suk expressed his excitement, stating, “I made a promise in the past to play Hedwig even after turning 40, and I’m keeping that promise. Over the four seasons that I’ve done since 2006, each time has been an exhilarating and enjoyable journey that still makes my heart race, so I’m very excited. I myself am also curious and excited about what kind of [performances] I will show this time, and I hope the audience shares the anticipation. I will prepare diligently to deliver a great performance.”

Meanwhile, Yoo Yeon Seok is returning as Hedwig after seven years. Having graced the stage as Hedwig for the first time in 2017, Yoo Yeon Seok garnered acclaim for his meticulous acting and excellent singing, earning love from many audiences.

Expressing his sentiments, Yoo Yeon Seok shared, “I’m both nervous and excited at the thought of meeting the audience again as Hedwig after seven years. As it’s been a long time, I will portray a more mature and diverse Hedwig on stage, so please look forward to it and show a lot of interest.”

Taking on the role of Hedwig’s husband and back vocalist Yitzhak are Chang Eun Ah (also known as JAS), Lee Ye Eun, and Yeo Eun. Meanwhile, the talented ensemble of actors portraying members of The Angry Inch band includes Lee Joon, Choi Ki Ho, Zakky, Jo Sam Hee, Lee Han Joo, Hong Young Hwan, Choi Ki Woong, Jeon Il Jun, Yoo Ji Hoon, and Jung Da Woon.

The musical “Hedwig and the Angry Inch” will run from March 22 to June 23 at the Charlotte Theater in Lotte World, Seoul.
