Watch: Song Joong Ki Endures Hardships In Unfamiliar Territory In "My Name Is Loh Kiwan" Teaser + Film Confirms Premiere Date
Netflix’s “My Name is Loh Kiwan” has dropped new teasers announcing the film’s highly-anticipated premiere!
Based on Jo Hae Jin’s novel “I Met Loh Kiwan” (literal title), “My Name is Loh Kiwan” tells the story of the meeting, break up, and love between North Korean defector Loh Kiwan (Song Joong Ki), who arrives in Belgium with his last hope, and Marie (Choi Sung Eun), a woman who has lost her reason to live.
On February 1, “My Name is Loh Kiwan” unveiled a new teaser along with the poster and confirmed the film’s March 1 premiere.
The newly released poster depicts Loh Kiwan walking along the crowd. On a foreign land amidst unfamiliar people, Loh Kiwan shows his resolve with a firm and unwavering gaze. The text, “I have decided to survive in this land,” highlights his difficult journey as he ventures to Belgium with his last chance at finding hope.
Along with the poster, the teaser follows the journey of Loh Kiwan who arrives alone in Belgium. Waiting nervously in front of immigration, Loh Kiwan eventually enters Belgium, but the lonely reality is that all that is left for him in an unfamiliar land are the harsh cold and hunger.
As he tries to prove his refugee status, flashes from Loh Kiwan’s life in North Korea are shown. However, he is told, “As of now, we cannot confirm that you are from North Korea,” and unable to endure much longer, he is shown fallen on the ground. However, Loh Kiwan meets Marie (Choi Sung Eun), a Korean professional shooter with Belgian citizenship who has lost her reason to live.
Loh Kiwan states, “I have managed to come this far by promising myself that I would endure and overcome whatever hell I experienced in this land.” He concludes, “My name is Loh Kiwan.”
