After watching his performance, the celebrity panelists heaped praise on Fish-Shaped Bread Hotspot for his skillful vocals and versatility.
Apink’s Namjoo then declared that she believed she knew him personally, asking him outright, “We know each other, don’t we?“ But before Fish-Shaped Bread Hotspot could reply, startled host Kim Sung Joo interjected with a laugh, “You can’t ask questions like that!”
Fish-Shaped Bread Hotspot ultimately won the round 86-13 and was able to advance to Round 3, where he performed an emotional cover of Park Jung Hyun’s “Sorry.”
Fish-Shaped Bread Hotspot also emerged the winner of Round 3, and he moved on to face off against the reigning champion, “Rock,” in the final round.
Although it was a close battle (55-44), Rock ultimately defended her title as champion, leaving Fish-Shaped Bread Hotspot to reveal his identity to the crowd.
It turned out that Namjoo had been right: Fish-Shaped Bread Hotspot was none other than PENTAGON’s main vocalist Jinho, who also recently became a member of the crossover vocal group CREZL formed on JTBC’s audition show “Phantom Singer 4.”
After her fellow panelists pointed out that Namjoo had repeatedly shed tears while watching him sing, the Apink member explained, “When I was doing a musical, [Jinho] was my vocal trainer. He’s truly a top-rate teacher. He studies and analyzes music, and you can really feel his sincerity.”
She went on to tell him encouragingly, “‘The King of Mask Singer’ is just ‘The King of Mask Singer.’ I don’t think [the throne] means anything when it comes to proving your skills. I hope that you’ll continue to make music with sincerity, just like you’re doing now. I’ll be rooting for you!”
Namjoo then cracked everyone up by hurriedly adding, “We’re not dating.”
