Lee Je Hoon And Lee Dong Hwi Make An Unstoppable Duo In "Chief Detective 1958"
MBC’s upcoming drama “Chief Detective 1958” has shared brand new stills!
“Chief Detective 1958” will serve as a prequel to the classic Korean series “Chief Inspector,” which ran for 18 years from 1971 to 1989 and achieved an incredible peak of 70 percent ratings back in its heyday. While the original show was set in the 1970s and 1980s (present day at the time), “Chief Detective 1958” will be set even earlier, in 1958.
Lee Je Hoon will be playing a younger version of the titular chief detective Park Young Han. Lee Dong Hwi will be playing Kim Sang Soon, who is nicknamed the “crazy dog” of Jongnam Police Station. Kim Sang Soon is a fierce and slightly unhinged detective who teams up with him to fight injustice and catch criminals.
The first still depicts a meeting between Park Young Han and Kim Sang Soon. Park Young Han, who has just been transferred to Jongnam Police Station, approaches Kim Sang Soon first as if he feels an instinctive connection with the “crazy dog.” Park Young Han is captured with his hand around Kim Sang Soon’s shoulder, while Kim Sang Soon, whose arms are crossed, is captured with a serious expression on his face.
The two detectives are passionate and enthusiastic, full of confidence and bravado. But sometimes their investigations come up empty, and sometimes they are even attacked by the bad guys. In one photo, they are captured sitting on the ground after getting beaten up by the bad guys. In another photo, they are captured in the police station striking a salute pose with a lollipop in their hands.
Talking about his co-star Lee Dong Hwi, Lee Je Hoon commented, “I have a personal relationship with Lee Dong Hwi, but we’ve never properly worked together on a project before. We had a lot of conversations through this project, and he was a colleague who gave me more strength than anyone else.”
He continued, “It was delightful and fun to see a different side of actor Lee Dong Hwi through the character Kim Sang Soon,” adding, “Our chemistry was so good that words were unnecessary, and the filming set was lively and filled with laughter.”
Regarding working with Lee Je Hoon, Lee Dong Hwi shared, “I learned a lot and relied on actor Lee Je Hoon, who played the role of the leader,” adding, “And I thought, ‘I want to be a senior like him.'”
“Chief Detective 1958” will premiere on April 19 at 9:50 p.m. KST.
