K-Pop Artists Sweep 6 Of Top 10 Spots On U.S. List Of Best-Selling CDs In 1st Half Of 2024

K-pop took up over half of the United States’ midyear list of the best-selling CD albums of 2024!

American music data tracking firm Luminate (formerly Nielsen Music), which supplies the data for the Billboard charts, has now released its list of the best-selling CDs in the first half of 2024. The tracking period for the first half of the year began on December 29, 2023 and ran through June 27, 2024.

On the list ranking CD sales only (not including digital download albums or any other format), K-pop artists claimed six spots out of the midyear top 10. The six K-pop artists who made the 2023 list were TXT, ATEEZ, TWICE, Stray Kids, ENHYPEN, and SEVENTEEN.

TXT’s “minisode 3: TOMORROW” was the United States’ best-selling CD album by a group or male artist in the first half of 2024—and the No. 2 best-selling CD overall, after Taylor Swift’s “The Tortured Poets Department”—with 190,000 copies sold.

ATEEZ’s “GOLDEN HOUR : Part.1,” which was notably released less than a month before the end of the tracking period, was the No. 3 best-selling CD of the first half of 2024 with 181,000 copies sold in the United States.

TWICE, the only girl group to make the midyear list, claimed No. 4 with their mini album “With YOU-th,” which sold 158,000 copies in the United States in the first half of the year.

Despite having been released in November 2023, Stray Kids’ “ROCK-STAR” made the midyear list at No. 6 with 109,000 copies sold in 2024.

ENHYPEN’s 2023 mini album “ORANGE BLOOD,” which was also released last November, took No. 8 on the midyear list with 97,000 copies sold.

Finally, SEVENTEEN’s best-of album “17 IS RIGHT HERE” came in at No. 10 with 90,000 copies sold in the United States.

The top 10 best-selling CD albums in the United States in the first half of 2024 are as follows:

1. Taylor Swift – “The Tortured Poets Department” (1,068,000)
2. TXT – “minisode 3: TOMORROW” (190,000)
3. ATEEZ – “GOLDEN HOUR : Part.1” (181,000)
4. TWICE – “With YOU-th” (158,000)
5. Taylor Swift – “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” (111,000)
6. Stray Kids – “ROCK-STAR” (109,000)
7. Beyoncé – “Cowboy Carter” (107,000)
8. ENHYPEN – “ORANGE BLOOD” (97,000)
9. Billie Eilish – “Hit Me Hard and Soft” (96,000)
10. SEVENTEEN – “17 IS RIGHT HERE” (90,000)

TXT, ATEEZ, and TWICE also made the separate midyear list of the overall top 10-selling albums of 2024 in the United States, which includes not only CD sales but also digital sales and other physical formats.
