Kim Do Hoon Dishes On Acting With Son Hyun Joo In "Your Honor," Acting Aspirations, And More
Kim Do Hoon joined Cosmopolitan Korea for a pictorial and interview!
In the pictorial, Kim Do Hoon, who has often portrayed youthful characters in various projects, showcased a mature and charismatic side of him.
Kim Do Hoon recently finished filming for the drama “Your Honor.” He shared, “I was worried that it might be confusing since I had to work on two projects at the same time including ‘Acquaintances’ (working title), but it was actually great because the characters in the two projects were completely different. The parts that couldn’t be quenched in ‘Your Honor’ were resolved in ‘Acquaintances’ instead. It actually created synergy.”
When asked if he feels empty now that all the filming is over, Kim Do Hoon responded, “I’m enjoying some leisure time for the first time in a while. I’m getting as much sleep as I want, going to the theater to watch movies, and playing futsal with the staff I became close to while filming for dramas.”
When asked how he would spend this summer if he were an ordinary man in his twenties and not an actor, Kim Do Hoon shared, “I love eating so much that I think I would be unbuckling my belt at every meal. I get hungry again from the moment I turn around after finishing eating. If I weren’t doing this job, I would probably weigh up to 90 kilograms.” He added, “Honestly, I can easily eat eight to nine servings. I can eat a lot of meat for real.”
Kim Do Hoon also dished on his experience of acting together with Son Hyun Joo, who plays his character’s father Song Pan Ho in “Your Honor.” He shared, “If I had to pick a role model right now, I would say it’s actor Son Hyun Joo. Every day after filming, my first thought was, ‘I think I’ve met the best acting teacher of the year.’ Son Hyun Joo never tries to teach or advise me directly. But amazingly, just by watching him act, I find myself following him naturally in a good direction. I’ve discovered many new aspects of myself and have been able to express emotions I hadn’t tried before. Son Hyun Joo might not understand [my words], but I am always grateful to him and aspire to be like him.”
Kim Do Hoon also expressed his aspiration for trying a romance genre production. The actor said, “[Emotional dynamics in romance] is always intriguing. It’s also one of the biggest interests for people. That’s why I really want to try a romance genre production. While acting is important, the external aspects are also crucial for a male lead in a romance, so I want to do it when I’m more prepared. If I were to film a romance, I feel like I would be quite nervous, too.”
As a final remark, Kim Do Hoon shared, “I hope that my love for acting never fades away. Besides acting, I also enjoy making hamburgers. If I ever hit a slump in my acting career, I plan to overcome it by becoming the owner of a handmade burger shop.”
