2PM's Chansung To Star In Japanese Romance Film

2PM’s Chansung has joined the cast of Japanese director Eiji Uchida’s new film “Hold Me Tighter Than Anyone” (literal translation)!

Eiji Uchida, a well-known Japanese director, is famous for his films “Midnight Swan” and “Silent Love,” as well as the Netflix series “The Naked Director.” Through “Hold Me Tighter Than Anyone,” which is based on Fuyuki Shindo’s novel of the same name, Uchida will continue to explore the themes of overcoming life’s challenges and forming connections through love, as he did in his previous films.

In addition to Chansung, the cast will include Kubo Shiori, a member of Nogizaka46, and Miyama Ryoki, a member of BE:FIRST. Chansung will play Lee Jae Hong, a young man who, despite his father’s urging to join the family business, follows his dream of becoming a chef in Japan.

In the film, Mizushima Tsukina (Kubo Shiori), who owns a specialty children’s bookstore, lives together with Mizushima Yoshiki (Miyama Ryoki), an aspiring children’s book writer. Despite their deep bond and long relationship, Yoshiki struggles with obsessive-compulsive disorder and mysophobia, making even simple gestures like holding hands with Tsukina challenging.

Determined to get help, Ryoki meets Chiharu, a woman with similar symptoms, at the hospital. As they start sharing their struggles, Tsukina feels jealous. Meanwhile, Tsukina meets Lee Jae Hong, a man who is emotionally distant in his relationships. The story delves into the complex interactions and conflicts between these individuals as they navigate their physical and emotional challenges.

Chansung remarked, “I’m excited because this opportunity feels like a turning point in my acting career in Japan. When I received the offer to appear in this film, I was determined to do my best with this great project, which sparked my passion. Working with the cast and crew on set was fantastic. Director Uchida Eiji’s precise and detailed directing, along with the staff’s remarkable skill, created a strong synergy. It was a real stroke of luck to work with such talented actors, and I think the set itself encouraged a great collaborative spirit.”

He added, “Love’s emotions and conflicts don’t always need to be resolved right away. Sometimes, old feelings that we’d forgotten merge with the flow of time, allowing for understanding and forgiveness. I think this is something we all need in our own relationships. I hope viewers enjoy the film.”

Director Eiji Uchida commented, “I adapted this novel, which I discovered by chance, into a film. My goal is to capture and project the sadness and purity of love depicted in the novel onto the screen with young actors. The performances by Miyama Ryoki, Shiori Kubo, and Chansung, who are also musicians, were a wonderful blend of freshness and realism. I hope everyone gets to see it in theaters.”

“Hold Me Tighter Than Anyone” will hit theaters in February 2025.
