SM Entertainment Details Plans For Upcoming Debuts And Music Releases In 2nd Half Of 2024
SM Entertainment is gearing up for a jam-packed second half of 2024!
On August 8, SM Entertainment detailed more information on their plans for the third and fourth quarter of 2024.
Upcoming debuts: nævis, new girl group, new boy group
Virtual artist nævis, who showcased a surprise performance at aespa’s concert in June, will release her single in the third quarter and make her official debut.
Furthermore, in the fourth quarter, SM will showcase a new girl group for the first time in approximately four years since aespa. SM is also gearing up to release a new boy group in 2025 following the successful debuts of RIIZE and NCT WISH.
Music releases
In addition to kicking off the third quarter with NCT 127’s comeback following their eighth debut anniversary, SM previously revealed that the third quarter includes mini albums from SHINee’s Key, WayV, RIIZE, and NCT WISH as well as single releases from Super Junior’s Sungmin and Girls’ Generation’s Hyoyeon.
NCT DREAM, who released “DREAM()SCAPE” earlier in March, plans on releasing a new studio album in the fourth quarter and continuing their third world tour in North and South Americas and Europe. aespa, who is receiving great attention for “Supernova,” will also continue strong in the second half of 2024 with their second world tour and new mini album.
In terms of solo artists, SHINee’s Minho will showcase his second studio album in addition to starring in a drama and play, while Super Junior’s Yesung and Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon plan on releasing new mini albums. Furthermore, EXO’s Chanyeol and NCT’s Jaehyun will make their solo debuts in August. In the fourth quarter, Red Velvet’s Irene, who will celebrate her 10th debut anniversary, will release her first solo album, while NCT’s Mark will also release a new single.
Exploring genres
SM revealed that the agency is further developing plans for the trot idol group, who will release their story through a television program in Korea and Japan in the fourth quarter and also hold a tour.
SM’s first British boy group DEAR ALICE will be launched through the television series “Made in Korea: The K-Pop Experience” via BBC.
Furthermore, SM’s classical music label SM Classics and dance music label ScreaM Records will continue to expand their reach while SM’s new contemporary R&B label KRUCIALIZE will reveal their first artist this October.
