4 Times Kim Jae Joong Showed His Charms In Episodes 3-4 Of "Bad Memory Eraser"
“Bad Memory Eraser” continues its way to enchant viewers with its unique plot and complex characters. Last week, we got to meet Lee Kun (Kim Jae Joong), a tennis player whose life turned for the worse after a tragic accident ended his promising career, and Kyung Joo Yeon (Jin Se Yeon), a psychiatrist with the social skills of a rock. These two people see their fates intertwine after Lee Kun undergoes an experimental procedure that erases all his bad memories from his mind. In the process, he mistakes Joo Yeon as his first love, the one person who saved his life. In this week’s episodes, the plot resumes right after the moment Joo Yeon accepts to keep pretending to be Lee Kun’s first love, and he sets on a mission to conquer her heart, displaying all of his charismatic antics in order to achieve his goals. Will his efforts actually work on the icy doctor, or will he see his new romantic interest get taken away yet again?
Here are some moments when Lee Kun showed his charms in the previous episodes of “Bad Memory Eraser”:
Warning: spoilers from episodes 3-4 ahead!
1. Relentlessly professing his love to Kyung Joo Yeon
One of the most evident effects in Lee Kun after losing his bad memories is getting back his confidence and self esteem, which he puts to work in full power in order to charm his first love, or at least the person he believes is his first love. Though for some people his new personality might be a little over the top, the change comes as proof that what was holding back his potential was the ghost from the past that he couldn’t let go. He isn’t afraid to be a little eccentric when it comes to displaying his good looks or being the straightforward man that he claims to be, all to get a chance of winning the heart of Kyung Joo Yeon.
He goes so far as to flee his hospital room several times in order to follow Joo Yeon around. His confidence is such that he doesn’t budge even when she confesses that she has a boyfriend. Though in his eyes she is the prettiest and cutest woman, he can’t believe she is actually in a relationship since she is constantly absorbed by her work, which wouldn’t allow her to be very attentive to a partner. Nonetheless, he accepts that she can’t accept his feelings, though he finds it disappointing that she seems too in love with a man who isn’t interested in her at all. So, he asks her to at least find someone who truly cares for her, that is, until she agrees to date him.
2. Being considerate of Kyung Joo Yeon’s feelings
One of Lee Kun’s charming points is that, despite all his confidence and overbearing attitude, the moment Joo Yeon sets her boundaries, he fully respects them, not wanting to cross the line that she marks. He goes so far as to protect her from finding out that her so-called boyfriend is actually cheating on her and taking advantage of her to favor another woman. Though he could use this fact in order to fulfill his purposes, he prefers to accept her cold rejection instead of seeing her getting hurt by the truth.
The sincere feelings he has for Joo Yeon should be enough to at least gain some brownie points, but she is ruthless when it comes to drawing the line between them. It’s contrary to her attitude toward the selfish man she likes, or even towards Lee Shin (Lee Jong Won), who seems to be getting way closer to her than Lee Kun. However, she doesn’t seem all that indifferent towards him, as she takes care of him in a silent way, though the reasons behind her cold attitude are still unknown. It looks like there’s much more to discover about her and the painful past that she herself is carrying in her memories.
3. Comforting and advising his younger brother
One of the best moments in these recent two episodes is definitely the little exchange between Lee Kun and Lee Shin. At the beginning of the drama, the tension and awkwardness between the brothers is quite obvious. Still, despite their complicated relationship, they truly care for each other. Even if it is due to Lee Shin feeling guilty for having stolen everything that once belonged to Lee Kun, from his career to his parents’ attention, he puts up with his older brother’s crazy antics. And he heeds his brother’s advice when Lee Kun tells him to work for his own dreams rather than for other people’s.
In Lee Kun’s case, despite having lost many bad memories that could be related to his family, he doesn’t completely forget all his time with them, as he keeps some of his childhood memories with his younger brother. One of those specifically refers to his desire to become one of the biggest stars in the whole universe. Something to really look forward to is seeing whether this new chance in his life will make him achieve his dream or not. For now, it seems that Lee Kun is ready to start his way into stardom, whether it’s as an athlete or as something else.
4. Starting anew in his career, this time as a sports agent
Though Lee Kun is now aware of his brimming charms and full potential, he seems to also realize that his condition as an athlete isn’t the best. After all, even if his memories and trauma are gone, he can’t turn into a professional player overnight. But what he does realize is that his analytical abilities for athletes’ conditions are top-notch. So, he starts his new journey as a sport agent, signing the most popular female tennis player, who coincidentally happens to be a great fan of his, into his newly established agency.
He even sets the perfect scenario to get his payback on the director from the agency he used to work for, displaying a very clever and insightful mind, which hopefully will help him to overcome the challenges in the episodes to come. There’s still a lot to discover from this drama, like the full story behind Lee Kun’s past memories or how involved Lee Shin was in his brother’s accident, the role Joo Yeon will take in both brothers’ lives, the mysterious identity of Lee Kun’s first love, and so much more. All we can do is to stay tuned for what “Bad Memory Eraser” has in store for us in the upcoming episodes!
