Kim Bo Ra Dishes On Her Upcoming Crime Thriller Drama “Black Out”

Kim Bo Ra has talked about her character in the upcoming drama “Black Out”!

Adapted from the best-selling German mystery novel “Snow White Must Die,” “Black Out” is a crime thriller drama that follows the story of Go Jung Woo (Byun Yo Han), a young man accused of murder in a mysterious case where no corpses were found. 11 years later, he embarks on a journey to uncover the truth of that fateful day

Kim Bo Ra will play the role of Ha Seol, a newcomer to Go Jung Woo’s hometown, Mucheon City. Ha Seol is surprised and intrigued when she learns that one of her co-workers at the restaurant where she works part-time has a son who is a convicted murderer. Driven by curiosity, she starts to investigate the murders from 11 years ago—and as an outsider, her objective point of view winds up helping Go Jung Woo in his own search for the truth.

Kim Bo Ra, who is known to be a big fan of crime investigation dramas, recalled, “Since I often watch shows related to criminal investigations, I felt an immediate connection to the project when I received the offer.” She added, “Ha Seol lives in Mucheon City but is also the only outsider. I was drawn to her character, who views incidents more objectively and is naturally curious about them.”

Kim Bo Ra continued, “While living in the rural village, Ha Seol’s habit of digging into things whenever she gets suspicious made me see her as a ‘cute busybody.’ Her warm personality, treating everyone in the village kindly without any bias, and her willingness to help people she doesn’t even know left me with a very warm impression.”

Ha Seol is a character who freely rides around on her scooter, even as the entire village grows tense and suspicious of one another following Go Jung Woo’s sudden return. Commenting on the character’s carefree personality, Kim Bo Ra shared, “Since Ha Seol is free-spirited, like a cat walking leisurely through a minefield, I felt it was important for her to interact with the villagers without any bias.” She explained that, for this reason, she didn’t deeply study the backstories or situations of the other characters in the drama.

Lastly, Kim Bo Ra expressed her affection for her fellow cast members, saying, “Since Ha Seol isn’t directly related to the incidents, I felt that all the other actors treated me comfortably. Actor Byun Yo Yan felt like an older brother from the neighborhood, actor Go Joon was like an uncle, and actress Go Bo Gyeol felt like an older sister.”

“Black Out” is set to premiere on August 16 at 9:50 p.m. KST.
