3 Reasons To Look Forward To Upcoming Drama

The stars of MBC’s “Black Out” have shared their thoughts on what viewers can expect from the upcoming drama!

Adapted from the best-selling German mystery novel “Snow White Must Die,” “Black Out” is a crime thriller starring Byun Yo Han as a young man accused of murder in a mysterious case where no corpses were found. 11 years later, he embarks on a journey to uncover the truth behind that fateful day.

With just one day left until the drama’s premiere, here are three reasons to look forward to the highly-anticipated series:

1. The first drama by director Byun Young Joo

Notably, “Black Out” is the first drama series helmed by critically acclaimed director Byun Young Joo, who is known for films like “Helpless” and “The Murmuring.”

Actress Kim Bo Ra remarked, “It’s director Byun Young Joo’s first drama series, and it’s also a peak mystery that’s full of amazing acting.”

2. The suspenseful search for missing memories

“Black Out” will follow the unusual story of Go Jung Woo (Byun Yo Han), a model student who is suddenly accused of murdering two of his classmates. Because Go Jung Woo was blackout drunk on the night in question and has no memories of what happened, he doesn’t remember killing his classmates, but he also doesn’t remember not killing them.

After serving a 10-year prison sentence for the murders, Go Jung Woo returns to his hometown and sets off on a dangerous quest to figure out what really happened that night.

Byun Yo Han commented, “What’s fun about the drama is that viewers, together with the characters in the story, can try to solve the mystery of whether Go Jung Woo is the true culprit or, if not, who the real culprit is.”

Go Bo Gyeol chimed in, “You’ll really be able to enjoy watching the drama if you backtrack each and every episode to recover Jung Woo’s lost memories.”

3. The complicated relationships between the characters

When Go Jung Woo returns to his hometown, he winds up becoming entangled with several different characters: most notably Noh Sang Chul (Go Joon), a detective who has just been transferred to the town as part of a demotion and doesn’t trust him one bit; his childhood friend Choi Na Gyeom (Go Bo Gyeol), who has always harbored an unrequited love for Go Jung Woo and still wants to be together with him despite having become an A-list actress; and outsider Ha Seol (Kim Bo Ra), who is a newcomer to the town.

Go Joon teased, “As the plot searches for the true culprit, a suspenseful battle of nerves will unfold amongst the characters that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Each episode’s ending will have you waiting for the next, and it’s a well-made drama that will make your hands clammy with sweat up until the very end, so please make sure to tune in.”

“Black Out” will premiere on August 16 at 9:50 p.m. KST. Check out a teaser for the drama here!
