The "Butterfly Cut" Is Trending Big-Time, Even Among K-Pop Idols! Here Are Some Stars Rocking The Look
The “butterfly cut” or the “falco cut” is a specific haircut that involves a whole ton of face-framing layers. It’s basically the relaxed, more casual version of the “hime cut” that was trending a couple of years ago – it offers the same face-framing benefits without committing to cutting out a huge chunk of hair! For proof that this is the trending haircut of the season, just look to your favorite idols.
1. TWICE’s Momo
In Momo’s version of this look, she also has her signature bangs! The TWICE member shows off just how complimentary the butterfly cut is for people with oval and heart-shaped faces, especially with the way her hair is curled in towards her face. She’s totally rocking it!
2. aespa’s Giselle
In a recent photo shoot, Giselle of aespa proves just how timeless this hairstyle can be! Her version is a little more swept away from her face, letting her gorgeous features shine. The layered cut with wispy, face-framing pieces along with her ethereal-looking makeup is the perfect touch.
3. (G)I-DLE’s Shuhua
The youngest member of (G)I-DLE recently featured in GQ Magazine Taiwan, and she looks absolutely stunning! Her version of the butterfly cut has no bangs, but light ends that fall right under her cheekbones. They bring all the attention to her face, and the sleek style is beautiful on her.
4. Red Velvet’s Yeri
This is a classic example of the butterfly cut, brought to you by Red Velvet’s Yeri! The way that it’s styled in towards her face is super flattering on her, as is the reddish blonde color. Bonus – this style is also great if you’re trying to grow out bangs and want to disguise them in with your hair!
5. ITZY’s Lia
If you have much shorter hair but still want to give the butterfly cut a try, take a cue from ITZY’s Lia! Her hair is layered lightly around her face, which keeps what might otherwise be a long bob from looking too blunt. Her side-swept bangs parted right in the middle are also super on-trend!
6. IVE’s Jang Won Young
For those that have ultra-long hair and are afraid of cutting it, this version of the butterfly cut is ideal! Jang Won Young has just enough hair cut to frame her face without losing any of the gorgeous length. The addition of wispy bangs makes sure that all the attention goes straight to her features!
