Shin Ye Eun Shines As A Top Student In Traditional Theater Through Hard Work In "Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born"

tvN’s upcoming drama “Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born” has shared a sneak peek of Shin Ye Eun’s character!

Based on a popular webtoon, the drama is directed by Jung Ji In, known for “The Red Sleeve.” Set in the 1950s, shortly after the Korean War, the series follows Jeong Nyeon (Kim Tae Ri), a young vocal prodigy who dreams of becoming a top traditional theater actor. The show explores Jeong Nyeon’s journey through competition, teamwork, and personal growth amid the era’s poverty and romance.

Shin Ye Eun stars as Heo Yeong Seo, an elite member of the Maeran Gukguek-dan, known for her exceptional skills in singing, dancing, and acting as well as her privileged background. To step out of the shadow of her famous soprano mother and sister, Yeong Seo gave up classical singing to study traditional Korean vocal music. After relentless effort, she gained recognition as the top student in the Maeran Gukguek-dan, earning a reputation as a haughty ice princess.

In the new stills, Heo Yeong Seo is shown deeply focused on practicing traditional Korean vocal music and wooden sword techniques while dressed in training gear. Her strong skills and confident attitude radiate charisma, making it easy to forget that she is still a trainee.

Heo Yeong Seo will face off in a friendly rivalry with Yoon Jeong Nyeon, a vocal prodigy who moves to Seoul alone from Mokpo to pursue a career in traditional Korean opera. Viewers are eager to see how Shin Ye Eun will portray the complex role of a hardworking genius who is unsettled by the sudden arrival of Kim Tae Ri’s naturally gifted character.

Director Jung Ji In commented, “Yeong Seo is an elite in the Maeran Gukguek-dan, unmatched by anyone, but she gradually changes after meeting Jeong Nyeon. I focused on showcasing this transformation through direction.” The director added, “I also asked Shin Ye Eun to use precise pronunciation for her character’s refined Seoul accent to create a clear contrast with Jeong Nyeon’s Jeolla province dialect.”
