Jang Gyuri, Yoo Young Jae, Son Sang Yeon And Kim Min Ki Spend A Healing Summer Together In Upcoming Drama
The third installment of “O’PENing 2024,” called “Our Beautiful Summer” (literal translation), has unveiled its cast and posters!
“O’PENing 2024” is a drama project showcasing works by new writers from CJ ENM’s O’PEN initiative. Following “The Otaku’s Daughter” and “Mi Ran of the Junk Shop” (literal translations), the third drama in the series will be “Our Beautiful Summer.”
“Our Beautiful Summer” is a coming-of-age drama about a 19-year-old girl who wants to die and a 19-year-old boy who wants to save her, focusing on a brief but beautiful summer in their lives. The cast will include Jang Gyuri, B.A.P’s Yoo Young Jae, Son Sang Yeon, Kim Min Ki, and Kim So Hye (in a special appearance).
Jang Gyuri will star as Choi Yeo Reum, a 19-year-old high school student who moves in next door to the quadruplets Ah Reum, Da Woon, and Woo Ri. In the drama, Yeo Reum feels abandoned by the world.
The quadruplets, each dealing with their own challenges, are played by Yoo Young Jae, Son Sang Yeon, and Kim Min Ki. Yoo Young Jae will play Na Ah Reum, who is a model student and school president. Son Sang Yeon will take on the role of Na Da Woon, a track athlete, while Kim Min Ki will play Na Woo Ri, who has aphasia. Kim So Hye will make a special appearance as Na Ra, the youngest of the quadruplets.
The story will follow quadruplets Ah Reum, Da Woon, and Woo Ri—who have lost someone dear—as they meet Yeo Reum, who has always been alone. Together, they work to heal and grow.
Both of the newly released posters feature lively snapshots of youth. The posters show Jang Gyuri, Yoo Young Jae, Son Sang Yeon, and Kim Min Ki smiling joyfully in a sunny sports field and a green park, giving a glimpse of the refreshing coming-of-age drama. The tagline “I want to spend [this time] with you” hints at how the characters, each facing their own challenges, will connect over the summer and grow together through their shared experiences.
The production team commented, “‘Our Beautiful Summer’ is a coming-of-age drama about young people who are hurting but find healing and growth by coming together. We hope viewers will look forward to the show and root for these characters, whose summer will be more beautiful and radiant because they spend it together.”
The first episode of “Our Beautiful Summer” will air on September 14 at 11 p.m. KST, with the second episode airing on September 15 at 11:10 p.m. KST.
