Shin Hae Sun And Lee Jin Uk Dish On Their Chemistry, Experience Of Portraying Unique Romance As Exes In "Dear Hyeri," And More

“Dear Hyeri” stars Shin Hae Sun and Lee Jin Uk have joined Elle Korea for a pictorial and interview!

“Dear Hyeri” is an upcoming healing romance drama that revolves around Joo Eun Ho (Shin Hae Sun), an announcer who develops dissociative identity disorder following the disappearance of her younger sibling and her breakup with her longtime boyfriend Jung Hyun Oh (Lee Jin Uk). Shin Hae Sun will play the dual roles of Joo Eun Ho, a veteran news announcer with zero presence, and Joo Hye Ri, a parking lot attendant.

As the drama portrays a strange yet beautiful love, the photo shoot also captured the atmosphere of the two stars expressing intense and deep love.

In the interview that followed the photo shoot, Shin Hae Sun dished on the chemistry with co-star Lee Jin Uk, with whom she grew much closer after filming together. The actress shared, “This is my first time doing a couple photo shoot, but I trusted Jin Uk a lot. When we were filming the sweet flashback scenes in ‘Dear Hyeri,’ he would say, ‘Just trust me,’ and I would respond, ‘I’ll trust you and give it a try!'”

Lee Jin Uk also commented on his synergy with Shin Hae Sun, saying, “Shin Hae Sun is an actress who has a great balance of technique, naturalness, and emotion.”

When asked about playing dual roles with two different personalities coexisting in one body, Shin Hae Sun replied, “I hoped that both Joo Eun Ho and Joo Hye Ri would become precious characters to the viewers. I acted with the desire for both characters to be loved.”

Regarding portraying a romance with an ex in the drama, Lee Jin Uk said, “It felt new. [In the drama,] a couple who breaks up due to deficiencies formed in their hearts during childhood despite being deeply in love will appear. The process of healing their deficiencies is warmly portrayed.”

When asked if he feels like he has matured from indirectly experiencing various romances in dramas, Lee Jin Uk stated, “In fact, love is everything. If you look closely, many things in the world stem from love.”

Shin Hae Sun and Lee Jin Uk’s new drama “Dear Hyeri” is set to premiere on September 23 at 10 p.m. KST. Their full pictorial and interview will be available in the October issue of Elle Korea.
