Update: Min Hee Jin Responds To ADOR's Statement + Insists On Reappointment As CEO

Min Hee Jin has now released a statement in response to ADOR’s statement about her position within the company.

The statement also mentions a radio news interview with reporter Jang Hyung Woo that took place on the morning of September 25. In the interview, the reporter revealed a phone call with a HYBE PR representative allegedly downplaying NewJeans’ achievements. HYBE firmly refuted the reporter’s claims through a statement later in the day.

Hello,

This is Marcol Consulting Group, responsible for media communication in collaboration with SHIN & KIM LLC, representing former ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin.

This morning, the ADOR board of directors resolved to convene an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders to discuss the reappointment of former CEO Min Hee Jin as an internal director. However, since the appointment of internal directors is decided by the major shareholder, HYBE, it is currently uncertain whether Min Hee Jin will be reappointed.

Meanwhile, the ADOR board of directors announced on the morning of September 11 that they had proposed to Min Hee Jin to take charge of producing NewJeans for the next five years. However, while there was talk of extending the contract period, there was no sincere proposal to remove numerous toxic clauses that were in the draft such as the unilateral termination rights. The phrase “compromise proposal” is nothing but wordplay.

Min Hee Jin is wary that extending her term under a flawed contract would not guarantee the normal activities of NewJeans as artists. Therefore, she has clearly expressed her intention to return as CEO and has requested a concrete contract from HYBE that reflects their sincerity. She feels great anger at the repeated media play before any negotiations, with no agreed-upon details regarding the parties involved, the duration, or the authority.

This morning, it has come to light that HYBE has been engaging in media activities to undermine the achievements of their artists. It is suspicious what they are trying to hide by suddenly making a statement today and whether they are attempting to drive a wedge between Min Hee Jin and NewJeans. As you know, HYBE has always initiated incomprehensible media play and then issued another statement to cover up the truth once it is revealed.

Authority as CEO is a necessary demand in order to have the right to defend against various irrational actions by HYBE including what was disclosed today and given that there is no reason for her removal as CEO. 

We are deeply angered by ADOR’s repeated lies to manipulate public opinion and are saddened by the resulting harm to the artists. We hope the ADOR board of directors will show integrity by engaging in sincere negotiations rather than media play. We also strongly demand the reinstatement of Min Hee Jin as CEO to ensure the proper achievements of the artists.

ADOR resolved to convene an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders to reappoint Min Hee Jin as an internal director at today’s board meeting.

Previously on the morning of September 11, ADOR had already proposed to Director Min Hee Jin to take charge of production for NewJeans for the next five years. This period covers the entire remaining duration of NewJeans’ contract.

However, the ADOR board of directors discussed and decided that the request for her to return as CEO is currently not acceptable.

Given that the basic guarantees regarding her position, duration, and authority as the producer in charge of NewJeans have been established, we expect further negotiations on specific conditions to take place in the future.

The details discussed at today’s board meeting and various inquiries were provided in detail via email to the members of NewJeans.

Previously on August 27, ADOR announced that Min Hee Jin would no longer be serving as CEO of the company but that she would continue to produce NewJeans’ content as an internal director at ADOR. Following the incident, all five members of NewJeans held a live broadcast on YouTube on September 11, issuing an ultimatum to HYBE to reinstate Min Hee Jin as CEO by September 25. On September 13, Min Hee Jin filed an injunction to seek reappointment as both inside director and CEO of ADOR.
