Park Seo Joon, Han So Hee, And Cast Dish On Their Chemistry, Intense Action Scene In “Gyeongseong Creature 2,' And More

The stars of Netflix’s “Gyeongseong Creature” have dished on what to expect in the drama’s second season!

On September 25, Park Seo Joon, Han So Hee, Lee Moo Saeng, Bae Hyeon Seong, and director Jung Dong Yoon attended the press conference for “Gyeongseong Creature 2.”

Season 1 of “Gyeongseong Creature” was set in the spring of 1945, when Korea was still under Japanese colonial rule. Season 2 will continue the story in Seoul of 2024, when Yoon Chae Ok (Han So Hee) will meet the new character Ho Jae, who looks exactly like Jang Tae Sang (Park Seo Joon).

Han So Hee plays Chae Ok, who after consuming Najin (parasite worm species), now lives in modern Seoul without aging or being able to die. Park Seo Joon plays Ho Jae, the deputy at Bugang Sagang, a private detective agency that takes on any job if the price is right.

Lee Moo Saeng joins the ensemble as the leader of the elite secret agents known as the Kurokos, while Bae Hyeon Seong portrays Seung Jo, a standout member of the Kurokos who uses his tentacles to attack people ruthlessly and chase after Ho Jae and Chae Ok.

Reflecting on the second season, Park Seo Joon shared, “It’s been so long since we finished filming that it feels surreal that Season 2 will finally be out. I’m honored to be able to share the results of everyone’s hardships. Though it was really tough, we had a really fun time [filming the drama]. I hope everyone enjoys watching it, and I’d really appreciate it if viewers could rewatch Season 1 as well.”

Han So Hee added, “While I mostly worked with Seo Joon in Season 1, now it feels like I’m presenting a whole new project as I’m here now with my other co-stars.”

On the changes in Season 2, Park Seo Joon explained, “Since the setting has shifted to the modern era, I felt the need to make changes to the styling of my physical appearance to emphasize the differences more clearly. The time period changed, and the way I express my character is different now as he has a new profession. The action scenes are even more spectacular and visually exciting this time.”

Similarly, Han So Hee shared, “My character can’t let her identity be revealed, so she has to live in the shadows. That’s why she has an overall darker styling for this season.”

Han So Hee also teased more intense action scenes compared to Season 1, sharing, “This was my first time using wires, and I overcame my fear of heights. Since I had to perform action scenes with superhuman strength, my movements had to be quicker and more precise. I practiced a lot more.”

Regarding Lee Moo Saeng, who newly joined the cast in Season 2, Park Seo Joon praised him, saying, “His dialogue delivery and expressions were so perfect that I was genuinely amazed and stunned.”

Lee Moo Saeng remarked, “Even though I knew what to expect, I was still amazed by their action scenes. I joined Season 2 with the hope of contributing. I was captivated by the grand scale and solid storyline of Season 1, but Season 2 surpasses it with an expanded plot and bolder progression. As I read the script, I was completely drawn in. The tension between those trying to stop this secret world and those trying to control it is brilliantly portrayed.”

Bae Hyeon Seong also expressed his gratitude to his co-stars, “They guided me through even the smallest details during filming, which was incredibly helpful. I was impressed by how they maintained the emotional depth while performing intense action scenes. I learned so much from them.”

The cast picked the romance between Ho Jae and Chae Ok as one of the key highlights of Season 2. When asked about his chemistry with Han So Hee, Park Seo Joon shared, “It gets even better in Season 2, and we became closer on a personal level. Since the setting is modern-day, our lines are more natural, which makes it easier to approach. In Season 1, we first met in a bickering manner, and the director mentioned that he wanted to carry that dynamic into Season 2. How their story unfolds after meeting in this way will be one of the key points to watch.”

Han So Hee added, “From Chae Ok’s perspective, she feels like their encounter is more like a reunion. Ho Jae resembles Tae Sang so much, and as Chae Ok sees Ho Jae, there are inevitable emotions she feels. Following Chae Ok’s viewpoint will lead to some heart-wrenching moments. If you focus on that aspect, you’ll be able to follow Chae Ok’s emotions closely.”

“Gyeongseong Creature” Season 2 is set to premiere on September 27.
