Watch: Childhood Friends Kang Dong Won and Park Jung Min Face Off Amid Chaos in Upcoming Film "Uprising"
Upcoming film “Uprising” has shared a brand new teaser!
Set during the Japanese invasion of Korea, “Uprising” follows the story of two childhood friends—Jong Ryeo (Park Jung Min), the son of Joseon’s most prominent military family, and his servant Cheon Young (Kang Dong Won). As adults, they find themselves on opposing sides, with Jong Ryeo serving as the closest military officer to the self-serving King Seonjo (Cha Seung Won), while Cheon Young becomes a soldier in the righteous army.
The teaser opens with King Seonjo’s haunting question: “Both a king and a slave. They are ‘equal’?” It then cuts to a nobleman stepping on the back of a slave, starkly highlighting the harsh realities of the time. Chaos soon follows as a voice shouts in panic, “The king has left the palace and run away.”
Next, a village is shown under attack. Intruders storm in, brutally killing the villagers. In one scene, slaves are seen hurling stones at the nobles. King Seonjo’s voice is heard, bitterly remarking, “They dared to hurl stones at their king. You call them my people?” His words reveal the deep divide between the ruler and his subjects.
In one scene, someone asks, “Didn’t they say that slaves will be freed for their contribution?” But this promise seems broken as in another scene, a voice says, “The king that promised to reward us for our service in war has framed and killed us.”
The tension rises when Jong Ryeo and Cheon Young, once childhood friends, now face each other as enemies. As they fight, Jong Ryeo says, “I was a fool to ever befriend a lowly slave like you. For that, I resent myself.”
The teaser closes with Cheon Young’s words, “Since you branded me a traitor, I will become one, just as you wished.”
