Cha Joo Young And Lee Hyun Wook's New Historical Drama 'The Queen Who Crowns' Confirms Broadcast Plans

tvN’s new historical drama “The Queen Who Crowns” (previously known as “Won Kyung”) starring Cha Joo Young And Lee Hyun Wook has shared its broadcast plans!

On October 10, a source from tvN and TVING shared, “’The Queen Who Crowns’ is confirmed to broadcast as a Monday-Tuesday drama in January 2025.”

“The Queen Who Crowns” tells the story about the fiery life of Queen Won Kyung, a kingmaker who dreamed of a new world in the early Joseon Dynasty and made her husband Lee Bang Won a king with whom she shared the power of the throne. Although she was recorded in historical records only as “King Taejong’s wife” or “Mrs. Min” without her full name, the drama sheds light on Queen Won Kyung, who lived an independent life without losing herself despite devastating betrayals and harsh reality.

Having previously impressed audiences in “The Glory,” Cha Joo Young will portray Won Kyung. Lee Hyun Wook will play her husband King Taejong Lee Bang Won, the third king of Joseon, and the two are expected to deliver a captivating performance together.

“The Queen Who Crowns” will consist of 12 episodes airing via both tvN and TVING. While the episode count of the main story is the same, the content may differ between platforms, with some scenes edited or unedited on TVING. TVING is also considering a 19+ rating based on the content.

Additionally, TVING will release two exclusive prequel episodes not included in the tvN broadcast, providing subscribers with a unique viewing experience. Viewers are eager to see how these prequel episodes will enhance the main storyline.
