On October 8, the production team of MBC’s “Kind-Hearted Sunjoo” (literal translation) announced that the four actors had been cast in the upcoming drama.

“Kind-Hearted Sunjoo” tells the story of Sun Joo, a woman determined to break free from a troubled marriage and start fresh by building a new home. The story will resonate with viewers of all ages, promising everything from heart-fluttering romance to lively, sitcom-like humor and satisfying moments of catharsis. The complex relationships between the characters surrounding Sun Joo (Shim Yi Young) will create a rich narrative filled with joy and sorrow, setting the stage for a trendy drama that will engage audiences on weekday evenings.

First, Shim Yi Young will play the role of interior designer Pi Sun Joo. A determined and resourceful professional, Sun Joo dedicates herself to her husband’s success, but she suddenly finds herself divorced after he betrays her. Afterwards, the strong Sun Joo begins a journey of personal transformation. Shim Yi Young, who has gained the trust of viewers and earned a reputation for her impressive acting skills across various projects, will aim to highlight Sun Joo’s unique cheerfulness and healthy charm in her portrayal of the character.

Song Chang Eui will play architect Kim So Woo, a team leader at Jin Architecture who prioritizes stability over ambition. However, after his wife betrays him by falling for another man, he decides to get a divorce. He then starts working with Pi Sun Joo, who is also getting divorced for similar reasons, which marks a turning point in his life. As Song Chang Eui has consistently showcased his ability to portray complex roles in previous projects, it remains to be seen what depth and strength he will bring to this new character.

Choi Jung Yoon will play Jin Sang Ah, the eldest daughter of and potential successor to the Jin Architecture CEO. Putting her own desires and career ahead of her family, Sang Ah falls in love with a new man and demands a divorce from her husband Kim So Woo. Tensions rise when her high school classmate Pi Sun Joo joins Jin Architecture, creating conflicts in both work and love. Choi Jung Yoon is expected to bring authenticity to the role and captivate viewers with her portrayal of Sang Ah.

Jung Young Seop will play Pi Sun Joo’s husband Jeon Nam Jin. In the drama, Jeon Nam Jin is an architectural designer who leaves all household work and parenting duties to his wife while he goes abroad to study. While abroad, he falls in love with Jin Sang Ah and develops a dangerous ambition to become the heir to Jin Architecture. Jung Young Seop has steadily built his filmography across various genres, and this role is expected to highlight his talent.

With its talented cast, “Kind-Hearted Sunjoo” is building excitement about how the relationships between the characters will become intertwined. As these four characters navigate their complicated connections, seemingly guided by fate, their workplace dynamics will add a new level of complexity.
